A BLANK CANVAS

A daily blank canvas can be a good thing.  If you think about it, a blank page or canvas allows GOD there…….HIS fingertips touch and guide and grow us into people more like HIS Son JESUS.

GOD WRITES ON THE CANVAS OF OUR SOULS.

GOD is the Master Writer and Artist!  We should humble ourselves to the point where we are ok with HIS writing our story and giving us the opportunities to create a colorful world around us blended with beauty and love.

ISAIAH 52: 7  “HOW BEAUTIFUL UPON THE MOUNTAINS ARE THE FEET OF HIM WHO BRINGS GOOD NEWS, WHO PUBLISHES PEACE, WHO BRINGS GOOD NEWS OF HAPPINESS…….”

Our souls began with the graffiti of sin there……and thank the LORD that HE has replaced that sinful canvas with a beautiful one.  Words are brushed across and upon the canvas that really mean something.  They are words of compassion and grace put into us.

PSALM 19: 2-4  “DAY TO DAY POURS OUT SPEECH AND NIGHT TO NIGHT REVEALS KNOWLEDGE.  THERE IS NO SPEECH, NOR ARE THERE WORDS, WHOSE VOICE IS NOT HEARD.  THEIR VOICE GOES OUT THROUGH ALL THE EARTH, AND THEIR WORDS TO THE END OF THE WORLD.”

Doesn’t the universe proclaim the works of HIS HANDS?  Shouldn’t we be those people who have HIS promises written upon our very souls?  How else will the world ever know the immeasurable gifts of GOD unless we, as HIS people are able to share what we deeply know?

I have learned this so far in the year 2020:  that a blank canvas within me, allows GOD to shape me all for HIS glory and HIS witness to a dark world.  I am currently here, in my circle of influence to be HIS ambassador for CHRIST.  My heart hurts right now for the condition of our world, and I know I can’t change the whole world.  But I do know GOD is the power within me, that changes me to be more like CHRIST! And when I am more like HIM, I can change what is right in front of me.

A blank canvas allows GOD to have HIS way with me.  And why?  Because it’s not about me,  it’s about HIM!!  Let’s begin our days with this prayer:  LORD, have your way with me, bless me, keep me, guide me and mold me and my character to be more like Your SON, JESUS.  Empty me, to do YOUR WILL, no not my will, but YOURS!  Make a masterpiece of me, YOUR masterpiece.

Oh what the LORD can do with a blank canvas!  And don’t we desire a canvas rich in color and shining bright, yes, shining bright for JESUS?

ISAIAH 60:1  “ARISE, SHINE, FOR YOUR LIGHT HAS COME, AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD HAS RISEN UPON YOU.”

Many feel in this year of 2020, that their worlds have come to a halt.  But as followers of JESUS we know that as the true Painter of our souls, HE has never stopped painting!  Has your canvas changed in 2020?

Maybe GOD is telling us very clearly, that HE is the finisher of all things……HE completes and does it in such a unique way for each son and daughter of CHRIST.  I wonder, does HE smile and see us becoming the masterpiece HE intends for us to be?

2 TIMOTHY 3:17 “…….THAT THE MAN OF GOD MAY BE COMPLETE, EQUIPPED FOR EVERY GOOD WORK.”

May we be open to this……open to HIS molding and shaping.  Anything the LORD touches makes it better and complete.  But we have to be willing to change, and daily change is hard for most.

LET US PONDER WHAT OUR CANVAS LOOKS LIKE TO GOD.  DOES HE SEE US IN HUMBLE SUBMISSION?

As these days go by set apart from one another, let’s remember that we are never apart from GOD and that HIS hand is upon us, shaping us into something beautiful…….a canvas for HIS glory.

COLOSSIANS 3: 4 “WHEN CHRIST WHO IS YOUR LIFE, APPEARS, THEN YOU ALSO WILL APPEAR WITH HIM IN GLORY.”

  1. Interesting take on the canvas perspective. I can see that, as newborns, we are a blank canvas; that we are painted upon by our parents and environments; that we begin grabbing the paintbrush and painting our own lines; that our perspective of beauty is distorted.
God knows our timeline and chooses when to wash that canvas clean with the blood of His Son, Jesus. I like your concept of allowing God to paint upon our souls His Words and thoughts and motives. We must daily bow and pray He would write upon our hearts that which He has for us. Although we still like to grab the brush too often, God knows how to remove our sin as far as the east is from the west; but we must be continually obedient, and repent in order for Him to make our canvas what He designs.
Oh, I am rambling! Your post makes me think and ponder. Thank you, dear Maxine. 💗

    1. Thank you Jennifer……I like the photos too. Sometimes GOD just brings a post all together in HIS own way! And I am so grateful when HIS words touch others. Like Kathy said……sometimes we pick up the brush again, but when it is all in HIS hands, HE completes and restores anything!! Blessings friend and thank you for your uplifting comment. Warmed my heart today.
