We all seem to carry some regrets. We even look back and think “those were the good old days”. Why didn’t we see when we were living them in the first place? Were we ungrateful and just living in the fast lane? We look back and think today how we could have carried on better, but that is the past and this is now. I will make a confession of sorts here that lately I have been living in the land of regret. And by doing so, it has robbed me of the present and my true happiness. LORD forgive me! Living in the past puts a weight on our shoulders that we were never meant to carry.
PHILIPPIANS 3: 13 “BROTHERS AND SISTERS, I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF YET TO HAVE TAKEN HOLD OF IT. BUT ONE THING I DO: FORGETTING WHAT IS BEHIND AND STRAINING TOWARD WHAT IS AHEAD.”
Every day that passes by can never return. I love those days where you wish they would never end……they are sweet and memorable. And then there are those days you wish you could forget, days where your behavior was regrettable, selfish and cruel. You go over in your mind what you said or did and realize now…….there is nothing you can do to change it. And the interesting thing, is that the enemy wants us stuck here. Why? Because then we are ineffective for the kingdom. Living in regret, leaves us stuck in the past and not living in the present. When you live for JESUS you live in the precious present. You live in the gift of HIS grace and you know you are loved no matter what you have done.
HAND OVER THOSE REGRETS AND FEEL THE WEIGHT OF IT LIFTED.
The pain of regret can be lifted today and all your mistakes cancelled. The ONE who died and took the nails for you did this……HE is the CHRIST!
ISAIAH 43: 19 “BEHOLD, I AM DOING A NEW THING; NOW IT SPRINGS FORTH, DO YOU NOT PERCEIVE IT? I WILL MAKE A WAY IN THE WILDERNESS AND RIVERS IN THE DESERT.”
The LORD does a new thing in us, every single day. It is up to us then to perceive it! It is up to us to trust HIM in this new day given to us. GOD knows your heart even when and even now if it is in the wrong place because…….
JAMES 4: 6 “BUT HE GIVES GREATER GRACE.”
Because of JESUS, hope is not all lost. Because of JESUS, we can live in the land of freedom instead of regrets. HE forgives us our sins and HE tells us this:
GALATIANS 5: 1 “IT IS FOR FREEDOM THAT CHRIST HAS SET US FREE. STAND FIRM THEN, AND DO NOT LET YOURSELVES BE BURDENED AGAIN BY A YOKE OF SLAVERY.”
Therefore, live today in the freedom CHRIST died on the Cross for you. Stand firm then, not burdened by any regrets or sins from the past and carry on well my friend!
PHILLIPIANS 3: 14 “I PRESS ON TOWARD THE GOAL FOR THE PRIZE OF THE UPWARD CALL OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS.”
