HUMBLE KNEES

FIND A HUMBLE POSTURE TODAY.

Let humility be your guide today. It is a good thing to be humble because of this:

WE ARE NEVER MORE HUMBLED THAN WHEN WE KNEEL AT THE FOOT OF THE CROSS.

When we see JESUS there and what HE did for us, our sin becomes very apparent and the Cross of JESUS puts everything into perspective. It is there we are humbled in a way that goes beyond compare. You see, humility is an accurate assessment of who we are compared to GOD’S holiness and grace.

JAMES 4: 10 “HUMBLE YOURSELVES BEFORE THE LORD AND HE WILL LIFT YOU UP.”

GOD wants us to see who we are as sinful human beings and to understand HIS rightful place as CREATOR of the universe and our perfect sinless GOD.

1 SAMUEL 2: 30 “FOR THOSE WHO HONOR ME I WILL HONOR, AND THOSE WHO DESPISE ME SHALL BE LIGHTLY ESTEEMED.”

In Matthew 18 JESUS speaks of those who cause others to stumble and says this:

MATTHEW 18: 7 “WOE TO THE WORLD BECAUSE OF THE THINGS THAT CAUSE PEOPLE TO STUMBLE! SUCH THINGS MUST COME, BUT WOE TO THE PERSON THROUGH WHOM THEY COME.”

Our relationship and our humility before GOD also influences how we hear from GOD and how we live. Right now because of pride and the internet, tik tok and Instagram, there are thousands of influencers that think they know better than anyone, even GOD, and their influence is ruining families and lives and even causing suicide due to their prideful pages. They are all about themselves……..woe to them! When we make ourselves our own little gods then this kind of evil happens. It’s pride on steroids these days.

When we come before the LORD in a humble posture, then we will hear from our Father in a kind and compassionate way. However, if we come before HIM with pride and thinking we know better, then we will hear from HIM words of condemnation and harsh punishment.

YOU ARE NEVER MORE HUMBLE AS WHEN YOU ARE ON YOUR KNEES.

And you are never more prideful than when you think you are the one who is more humble than the next person. Humility is shy that way – the instant you look at her within yourself, she vanishes into pride!

LUKE 14: 11 “FOR EVERYONE WHO EXALTS HIMSELF WILL BE HUMBLED AND HE WHO HUMBLES HIMSELF WILL BE EXALTED.”

I ask GOD to humble me and I leave that learning and humbling to HIM. Because I know if I am “trying” to be humble, it never works. And guess what comes to the surface in the midst of all that trying……pride!

Self-promotion never works, instead we need to shift our focus to our reliance upon GOD. HE alone is who we promote! HE alone gets the glory. And HE alone is our guide in serving others rather than ourselves. Consider others better than yourselves…….consider them and love them because:

PHILIPPIANS 2: 3 “DO NOTHING OUT OF SELFISH AMBITION OR VAIN CONCEIT. RATHER, IN HUMILITY VALUE OTHERS ABOVE YOURSELVES.”

Let’s do a little humble kneeling this week and in doing that alone, may we find joy in lifting up others around us, considering them as GOD’S children and then pointing them to CHRIST JESUS, the one we serve and the GOD of this universe!

1 PETER 5: 6 “HUMBLE YOURSELVES THEREFORE, UNDER THE MIGHTY HAND OF GOD…….”

  1. Amen my Dear Sister…. I personally know how easily pride can creep in when I try to handle things on my own.

May God keep me humble and teach me to trust Him more each day. 🙏🤗🤗

  2. “Humble yourselves” (James and 1 Peter): So I must humble myself, one of my responsibilities before God and others. And as I do, God will guide me on that path through His Word and His Spirit. God blesses obedience.

  3. Amen. One verse I love and try to remind myself of is when John the Baptist said that Jesus must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. 🤍
