I often wonder: LORD, are things supposed to be this hard? Is life really this excruciatingly hard? I’m sure you have been there too. Why is there disease, strife and brokenness?

PSALM 23:1 “THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD; I SHALL NOT WANT.”

When you look at the world today and see all the evil and division around us you can’t help but wonder, what is all this evil doing? Maybe all the darkness helps the light shine all the brighter. We know this world is going down this destructive path, scripture tells us it will, but we still wonder and wish for things to turn around and get better don’t we?

2 TIMOTHY 3: 3 “FOR THE TIME IS COMING WHEN PEOPLE WILL NOT ENDURE SOUND TEACHING, BUT HAVING ITCHING EARS THEY WILL ACCUMULATE FOR THEMSELVES TEACHERS TO SUIT THEIR OWN PASSIONS…….”

I’m trying to wrap my mind around all the evil I see on social media. Our phones now are a given, but they are stealing our souls! Our devices are causing us to look away from GOD’S truth and to wander off into myths and the evil one’s desire for us.

JOHN 12: 36 “WHILE YOU HAVE THE LIGHT, BELIEVE IN THE LIGHT, THAT YOU MAY BECOME SONS OF LIGHT.”

Each day the world turns on it’s axis, GOD wants HIS light to shine forth a little brighter to draw people to the light and reject the darkness. Being a child of light exposes evil hearts and evil intentions. People may hurt you and reject you. They may break you with their actions, but then again the LORD says this:

NEHEMIAH 8: 10 “DO NOT GRIEVE, FOR THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH.”

I have the above scripture memorized so that when I wonder why things are the way they are, I don’t grieve…….instead I look to the LORD, my strength and my joy.

Our human mind tries to make sense of all we see but sometimes there are things we may never come to understand, especially now. And in order for us to have peace, we need to give up trying to understand, because GOD is in control and all of HIS promises are true to us. So today this is just a reminder, a reminder of what we are now seeing, the chaos around us and all the evil has been talked about in scripture and it is true and in a way, a comfort. This is a comfort so that we won’t need to ask GOD why things are the way they are. HE told us already……..

2 TIMOTHY 3: 2-4 “FOR PEOPLE WILL BE LOVERS OF SELF, LOVERS OF MONEY, PROUD, ARROGANT, ABUSIVE, DISOBEDIENT TO THEIR PARENTS, UNGRATEFUL, UNHOLY, HEARTLESS, UNAPPEASABLE, SLANDEROUS, WITHOUT SELF-CONTROL, BRUTAL, NOT LOVING GOOD, TREACHEROUS, RECKLESS, SWOLLEN WITH CONCEIT, LOVERS OF PLEASURE RATHER THAN LOVERS OF GOD.”

Stand strong in the LORD today and don’t let the world discourage you. GOD is your ROCK and HE never goes away or leaves us because HE knows what HE is doing and what HE is dealing with, even when we wonder why things are currently the way they are!
