I love palm trees. It’s my favorite thing about Arizona. I love how they sway in the wind and the noise you hear when you stand under them. Today is Palm Sunday so may we remember JESUS and HIS triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Praise GOD!
The people were waiting for a king to rescue them. We wait for our SAVIOR to rescue us from circumstances beyond our control.
Recently at our Church, our Pastor Adam asked us to raise our hands if we were waiting on GOD. I think HE was surprised at how many raised their hands and it prompted him to do an altar call (not done often this way) to come forward and he prayed over everyone. It was truly a sacred moment. I watched from the back of the sanctuary because I was serving, but it is an image I won’t ever forget.
Adam said something profound: GOD works in the waiting. We tend to feel as if nothing is going on, like things have come to a standstill. The waiting can be agonizing to us because we want answers now.
ISAIAH 30: 18 “THEREFORE THE LORD WAITS TO BE GRACIOUS TO YOU, AND THEREFORE HE EXALTS HIMSELF TO SHOW MERCY TO YOU. FOR THE LORD IS A GOD OF JUSTICE; BLESSED ARE ALL THOSE WHO WAIT FOR HIM.”
Are you waiting on GOD right now like I am? I am waiting on a prayer that I have specifically been praying for well over two years. No answer yet except to wait. I am intentionally paying attention to what GOD is doing in me while I wait.
ISAIAH 64: 4 “………NO EYE HAS SEEN A GOD BESIDES YOU, WHO ACTS FOR THOSE WHO WAIT FOR HIM.”
In my waiting I trust that HE is working. But in my waiting I see HE is working on my heart. HE is reframing my heart in a way of strategic positioning. HE works on our hearts to break them, then remake them and refine them. We just have to surrender to this molding and remaking. We need to realize there is purpose in the waiting……it is active and very much alive.
In what I feel as my weakness, HE is using HIS power to give me strength to keep moving forward in the waiting and to keep drawing near to HIM. And yes, to keep praying. I pray for perseverance too…….to keep on keeping on!
LAMENTATIONS 3: 24 “THE LORD IS GOOD TO THOSE WHO WAIT FOR HIM, TO THE SOUL WHO SEEKS HIM.”
My waiting is not measured by days or weeks, no my waiting is measured in years and I ask GOD to stand tall with me in this gap. I’m in a place I don’t understand or see any type of change. And so, I surrender it all to HIM and ask GOD to hold me and sustain me…….. to help me learn how to live in the waiting and to wait with joy.
How about you my friend…….are you waiting too? Let’s wait together, always keeping our eyes on the GOD who works while we wait. Praise HIM for this blessing today, because an outcome will one day appear from the GOD who is sovereign over all our lives!
Oh yes, I think we all wait, and God gives us something specific to wait for, on purpose. He gives us a heart for a certain cause or person. I love that He works that way, so personally.
We studied in the book of Matthew this morning, and I was reflecting on how God had prepared Matthew for that moment in time to follow Him. Matthew was the tax collector. He had a certain way of reading people, of sensing needs and weaknesses. He’d likely used his gifts for himself so far, but look how God used him in ministry, and in writing His book of the Bible. Again, so personal.

Waiting is hard, but He’s moving in it and shaping us through it.
Keep trusting, keep pressing in. He sees you and hasn’t forgotten.
