HEAVENSREEF

A number of years ago a great song by Bart Millard from the group Mercy Me hit the charts.  I Can Only Imagine not only was popular on Christian radio, but it became popular in the mainstream too.  At the time it was one of my favorites and maybe it was because of such wonderful words like these:

• I can only imagine
• What it will be like
• When I walk by YOUR side
• I can only imagine
• What my eyes will see
• When YOUR face is before me……

To imagine and visualize our time with JESUS is a precious thing and maybe we don’t actually do this enough.  I think as we get older, we don’t use our imaginations as much as we used to. 

So, today imagine right now with me that we are sitting in HIS peaceful presence.  Imagine HIS kind eyes looking straight into yours.  Where are you sitting?  What does HE eventually say to you?  Be still long enough until you hear HIS gentle voice.

PSALM 139: 7   “WHERE SHALL I GO FROM YOUR SPIRIT?  OR WHERE SHALL I FLEE FROM YOU PRESENCE?”

Because we dwell with HIS spirit within us, we cannot ever exist without HIS presence, even now or forever!  HE is with us and what a comfort that is.  Imagining HIM sitting with you or walking alongside you………both scenarios become Holy Ground.  We come into HIS Holy presence and we can do this with imagination and intentional thought as much as we desire.

Little children have great imaginations.  Our imaginations seem to get tainted by this world.  We imagine the worst scenarios rather than the best because the “what ifs” get us every time.  And the enemy wants to distract and discourage us at every turn.

EXODUS 33: 14   “AND HE SAID, MY PRESENCE WILL GO WITH YOU, AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST.”

Imagine that!  The peace we so long for is found in HIS presence when we intentionally visualize HIM with us………and even then, HE gives us rest!

JESUS promised that HE would be with us……..always.

MATTHEW 28: 20   “AND BE SURE OF THIS:  I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, EVEN TO THE END OF THE AGE.”

What a wonderful Savior we have who is always with us.  HE is present for HIS elect.  How present are we with HIM?  How often do we let the world’s distractions consume our minds instead of JESUS and HIS word?  Maybe if we imagined HIM more right by our sides continuously, we would act a little differently, speak a little more kindly and give grace more willingly just as HE has done for us.

Remind yourself this morning:  I can connect with my good Shepherd any time and any place…….I need only……..imagine!  Thank you JESUS for never letting us go!

GENESIS 28: 15   “BEHOLD, I AM WITH YOU AND WILL KEEP YOU WHEREVER YOU GO…….”
