SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

TRADE IN CHAOS FOR PEACE

You can trade in chaos for peace…….did you know?

JOHN 14: 27   “PEACE I LEAVE WITH YOU; MY PEACE I GIVE YOU.  NOT AS THE WORLD GIVES DO I GIVE YOU.”

Only in CHRIST, our Savior can we walk in this much wanted peace.  I think we don’t grasp enough what CHRIST said to us:

MY PEACE I GIVE YOU.

Why did HE make such a point about peace?  Maybe because HE knew as humans we would search for it constantly in all the wrong places.  And so, do we embrace HIS peace that only HE can give or do we try to find it in the world?  We can strive and search for peace in all the wrong places and when we do, all the striving just wears us out!   How can we find the peace our souls crave in the chaos around us?

2 THESSALONIANS 3: 16   “NOW MAY THE LORD OF PEACE HIMSELF GIVE YOU PEACE AT ALL TIMES AND IN EVERY WAY.”

Peace in the LORD; peace at all times……..ahh that is what we want!  It’s what our very souls crave.  May the LORD of peace HIMSELF give us peace at all times and in every way.  We need to walk so closely with HIM, abide with HIM, that we have this inner peace we need. We cannot know this peace, unless we know the ONE who gives it so freely.

JAMES 3: 18   “AND A HARVEST OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS SOAN IN PEACE BY THOSE WHO MAKE PEACE.”

Didn’t JESUS say in the Sermon on the Mount:  blessed are the peacemakers?  GOD blesses those who work for peace and they are called HIS children!  GOD blesses us with the peace of knowing we are saved by HIM and through HIM.  We are saved and we are HIS.

In our lives, do we spread chaos ourselves?  If we looked at our lives from the outside in, would we see any peace happening?  I find the more I sit at the SAVIOR’S feet, the more peace seems to just happen around me and in me.

Once again……..peace is an intentional choice.  And JESUS is the answer because HE said HE wanted to give us HIS PEACE!

JESUS IS OUR ABIDING INNER PEACE FOR OUR HEARTS AND MINDS.

COLOSSIANS 3: 15   “AND LET THE PEACE OF CHRIST RULE IN YOUR HEARTS, TO WHICH INDEED YOU WERE CALLED IN ONE BODY.  AND BE THANKFUL.”

Being thankful first and foremost draws us in, draws us close, close to this special inner peace.  It’s a surrender, surrender to all of HIS truth we need to embrace daily.   Choose JESUS today and then know HIS peace.  HIS peace will wash over your heart, mind and soul……..because  it’s a peace that is only found………at HIS feet.

PHILIPPIANS 4: 7   “AND THE PEACE OF GOD, WHICH SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING WILL GUARD YOUR HEARTS AND YOUR MINDS IN CHRIST JESUS.”

  1. I think of ‘peace’ as a right relationship with God. When we have that, we can experience the calm, abiding joy we desire. We get that as an eternal gift from God (salvation), but we can also, as you say, choose to abide in it, day by day and situation by situation.

    But we must choose Jesus:

Jn 15.5 I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.

Peace be with you, dear Maxine. ♥️

    1. Ahh that verse is another one I have held onto for years. It’s the abiding that matters. One year my word was abide and I learned so so much living it out that year. GOD is so so good. Blessings dear Kathy!

  2. Such a Wonderful reminder, Maxine. True peace is found only in Christ, not in the chaos of this world. When we rest in His presence, He fills our hearts with Peace that surpasses all understanding. Choosing Jesus is the key to peace, it’s a Blessing we can always embrace, Amen.

    You Are Loved.
