THIS YEAR VALUE SLOWNESS

SLOW DOWN THIS YEAR

I think we all need to slow down this year.  I plan to.  In a small park right by my house there are several benches.  I plan to sit and be still.   Because time flies by and the busier I am it steals something from my soul.

Everyone’s mantra is how busy they are and all that they are doing.  I think I need to ask more when someone says that:   but do you sit still……..and know GOD?  And LORD forgive us for not finding the slowness that YOU require of us.  YOU know we need to slow down because YOUR command was and always has been very simple:

PSALM 46: 10   “BE STILL, AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD.   I WILL BE EXALTED AMONG THE NATIONS, I WILL BE EXALTED IN THE EARTH.”

Honestly, how can we ever worship and praise our great GOD above, unless we first stop all our crazy busyness to honor HIM.

THIS YEAR VALUE SLOWNESS OVER BEING HURRIED

We all are in this frenzy because we know that the clock is ticking away.  But in a way with all the hurry, aren’t we really losing time?  We get to the end of a day and wonder where the time went!  Being still has the feeling of slowing time down and it is an intentional presence of mind and heart.

PSALM 37: 7   “BE STILL BEFORE THE LORD AND WAIT PATIENTLY FOR HIM.”

And there it is!  Slowness requires patience and waiting.  It’s something none of us are really good at.  We need help doing it………help from the LORD.

Ask HIM to slow you down.  Slow down the busyness and find a way to say no.  Don’t overbook and we can teach others to slow by saying no too.

Stopping and being still is something the enemy does not like us doing.  Satan hisses at us to get moving, get busy because HE knows then that we become distracted and take our eyes off of GOD.

ZECHARIAH 2: 13   “BE SILENT, ALL FLESH, BEFORE THE LORD, FOR HE HAS ROUSED HIMSELF FROM HIS HOLY DWELLING.”

Be silent…….slow down……..more.  In slowing, we allow our heart and mind to turn to the good grace that GOD gives us every day.  Slow down long enough to be grateful, mindful and wait.  Wait on the LORD.  Wait and listen.

BUSYNESS CAN BECOME A MERRY-GO-ROUND THAT NEVER STOPS.

Yes, busyness can trap you.  It sucks you in with so many activities you don’t have the time to pray, or read your Bible, study or be in community.  This year keep slowness a priority and spend the time before your GOD.  Value this slowness that is intentional before GOD.  Wait and listen.

Let the LORD do within you, what you can’t.  HE loves us enough to always be there, waiting for us to turn to HIM, in spite of our busyness.  Slow down today and treasure that time spent with GOD.  It is never a waste.

ZEPHANIAH 1: 7   “BE SILENT BEFORE THE SOVEREIGN LORD, FOR THE DAY OF THE LORD IS NEAR.”

  1. I so agree with you, Maxine about the value in slowing down. Satan likes to keep us busy so we slacken off in our time with God and that is what he wants. The culture today tends to elevate how busy one should be, but I do think it is so vital to keep a pace that is not rushed or too much.

  2.  Being still has the feeling of slowing time down. ” I like the thought of that. I know, in my morning quiet times, I often feel that time stands still. – Then I’m surprised when an hour has somehow passed! I’m so grateful to have this slower retirement time that He has given me to spend more precious time with Him.

    1. Totally agree. It does feel like time stops. I love it and I try NOT to look at the clock until I get up for my day. Often I am surprised at how long I sat there. But so thankful like you that I finally have this time to do. I think GOD had a plan in our days for this to happen.

  3. Such a beautiful reminder to slow down and be still. It’s easy to get lost in the rush, but true peace and connection come when we pause, listen, and focus on God.

God’s Continued Blessings Dear Sister 🙏
