TRADE JUDGEMENT FOR COMPASSION

NAVIGATING THROUGH JUDGEMENT IS A HARD THING

Navigating through this voting and election season puts us all into a chaos of judging one another or judging those who vote and think differently.  We all think we are right don’t we?  And we are passionate about it too.  But as Christians, we are to remind ourselves, often, that GOD is the supreme judge and that we truly are to leave the judgement up to HIM.

In Lysa Terkeurst’s book: Seeing Beautiful Again she says to:

TRADE YOUR JUDGEMENT FOR COMPASSION

We may disagree with one another severely on the political front, but we should never be the ones lashing out and causing strife with our neighbors and communities.  We should be the ones who show compassion on others, those who still walk in darkness.  We are the light, we are the salt.

Our Church has preached on this and I am so very thankful that our Pastors were concerned how politics can create division in a Church, especially in 2024!  They reminded us to vote wisely and morally and keep in mind what the WORD says.  This applies also to all Christians.  What about those who did vote differently from you?  There will be some.  Our unity with one another is the fact that we as Christians are unified under ONE name and ONE name only, that of JESUS CHRIST.  We are citizens first of the Kingdom of GOD and then we are American Citizens!

LUKE 17: 21   “…….FOR BEHOLD, THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS IN THE MIDST OF YOU.”

We are HIS kingdom people, broken and forgiven and unified under ONE name only.  CHRIST is our cornerstone, our rock and our all and all.  Let’s not let politics become our all and all.  Priority is important this season and let’s remind ourselves who sits very securely and sits forever on the throne of Heaven!

So today, just as JESUS did, be quick to show compassion and be very slow in your judgement.  I’m not happy with myself when I judge, ick.  It’s a way to make oneself feel superior.  And JESUS reminds us to be humble in all circumstances, putting others first.

LUKE 14:  11   “FOR ALL THOSE WHO EXALT THEMSELVES WILL BE HUMBLED, AND THOSE WHO HUMBLE THEMSELVES WILL BE EXALTED.”

In this humility we are reminded that GOD is compassionate on us, every single day!  How much more should we show compassion to those around us!

PSALM 103: 13   “AS A FATHER SHOWS COMPASSION TO HIS CHILDREN, SO THE LORD SHOWS COMPASSION TO THOSE WHO FEAR HIM.”

It’s a good thing………to reach out to others who think differently across the political isle, because we may disagree with them, but what we are is in agreement with CHRIST who commands us to love one another.

JUDGEMENT IS EASY.  COMPASSION CAN BE HARD.

Compassion overlooks an offense and responds with kindness and understanding.  Remember, there are those around us today walking in darkness.  Look today at those souls around you, they are either GOD’S children or those walking in darkness who need to see the light.  Put judgement aside and choose grace and compassion, just as your Father in Heaven has extended to you.  Remember today the Great Commandment:

MARK 12: 30  “AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.”

MARK 12: 31   “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”

Love your neighbor, show compassion towards them instead of judgement, then leave the rest to GOD the one who is in all of authority and who judges righteously.  May HIS peace be with you today and every day to come.

MATTHEW 20: 34   “JESUS HAD COMPASSION ON THEM AND TOUCHED THEIR EYES.  IMMEDIATELY THEY RECEIVED THEIR SIGHT AND FOLLOWED HIM.”

  1. I was just reading Bridget’s post about Clear the Clutter, and both your posts are interconnected. Whatever is going on in our hearts can distract us and lead to wrong thinking and actions. God gives us a way to clear the clutter: reading His Word, filling our hearts with Truth. Then we can see others clearly and interact appropriately.

This is good Truth. Thank you, dear Maxine.

  2. God Bless You, Maxine!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on compassionate living. Good stuff!

Compassion is essential if we are to grow in our understanding of God’s feelings about us. We’re supposed to be like minded in our intent to resist the Devil so that he will flee. Speaking truth and healing, and feeding, others is a key behavior of an Ambassador for Christ.

Funny, not humorous, how so many Christians think that politics is divisive. In truth, God is political, and Jesus is the Master Politician of all human history. There’s nothing that is more political than the Church and Israel. Israel being God’s original chosen, or elect, and Christ happening to be Jewish, and Christians being grafted in, born anew, the tribulations of God’s people by thieves has been ongoing since Lucifer corrupted Eve and Adam in the Garden…

    Romans 22:12… ✌️🏋️♨️💒💃🕺

See you at PT sometime soon. God bless!!!

  3. Thank you so much for sharing these powerful words. You’ve really hit the nail on the head about the tension we all feel during election seasons, especially as Christians. It’s so easy to get caught up in judging others based on our political views, but as you rightly pointed out, Scripture reminds us time and time again that judgment belongs to God alone. He is the righteous judge, and our role is to extend compassion, not condemnation.

This is one of the reasons I personally choose not to engage in politics, either in person or on social media. No matter what we feel, think, or believe, there will always be someone who disagrees, and stirring up conflict doesn’t help anyone. It only divides us. Instead, I believe we are called to focus on showing love, understanding, and grace to those around us, especially in times of division. Compassion is so much harder than judgment, but it’s the path that reflects Christ’s love the most.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing.

  4. All good points Willie. I did vote this election. But I so agree with you on the social media thing. Ugh it’s easy to get pulled into it all. The world pulls us away from our priority: JESUS. Stay vertical keep praying and always know……..YOU ARE LOVED.
