I have often come before the LORD and asked: “LORD, is this enough?”  Am I doing enough in YOUR name, writing enough or doing enough study, or just in general wondering what is enough? In truth, we all fall short.  No not one of us is enough.  All our works are as filthy rags in HIS eyes, because then all our “enoughs” negate the Cross and all of HIS infinite grace.

Having enough or doing enough or just being enough means that there is a degree or quantity that is sufficient or that is necessary for satisfaction.   We tend to put limits or goals upon ourselves.  Goals help us achieve things.  Goals can be a good thing.  When I was pondering all of these ideas, I came upon this scripture:

MATTHEW 10: 25   “IT IS ENOUGH FOR THE DISCIPLE TO BE LIKE HIS TEACHER, AND THE SERVANT LIKE HIS MASTER.”

What struck me was the “enough for the disciple”.  You see, our GOD knows we are finite creatures.  And because our GOD is an infinite GOD and does and knows all things, we can truly never be enough.  Only GOD’S PERFECT SON who was sent to die for all of our sinful ways is perfectly enough to settle that requirement once and for all.

In the above mentioned scripture, JESUS was speaking to HIS beloved disciples, cautioning them that HE was sending them out like sheep among wolves.  And knowing they were finite creatures HE told them what was enough………to be more like HIM.

This is a true comfort but can also be a sticking point, because we then try to do, say or be enough, when in reality we never can.  JESUS satisfied what needed to be enough to pay the debt owed……..HIS perfect blood shed for us once and for all.

WE WERE MADE FOR MORE THAN ENOUGH

There is more than enough with JESUS and there is more than enough when we just abide with HIM.  Oh, may we reflect HIS ways and HIS words today!  HE gives us just enough light for the step we are on………daily.  HIS enough is more than anything we could ask for.

JESUS IS MORE THAN ENOUGH  NOW AND INTO ETERNITY

JESUS is our all and all.  Our everything……..our always and forever enough and then even more.  This is all grace for us.  It’s enough to desire to walk with HIM, to be just like HIM, to learn all HIS ways and to love the way HE loves.  Today if you feel you are not enough, remember that with JESUS…… you are!  May you live this day and all your days to come for HIM, loving HIM with all your heart, soul and mind and that truly……..is enough!

DEUTERONOMY 31: 8   “THE LORD IS THE ONE WHO WILL GO BEFORE YOU.  HE WILL B E WITH YOU; HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU OR ABANDON YOU.  DO NOT BE AFRAID OR DISCOURAGED.”
