IT’S NOT ABOUT THE SPOT!

IT’S NOT ABOUT THE SPOT OR PLACE……..IT’S ABOUT JESUS MEETING YOU THERE.

In my recent Bible study group we talked about having a place to go each morning where we spend time in HIS word.  I have had more than one special place because we have lived in many different homes.  But in each one I found a spot or place to go to.  And in each one GOD met me there in whatever season of life I was in.  And the best part about all of this when I remember each place is that GOD was with me right there, right when I needed HIM!

IT’S NOT ABOUT THE PLACE, IT’S ABOUT JESUS!

Jesus says to us in JOHN 14:6   “I am the way, and the truth and the life.”  HE is the way………..JESUS meets us ever so kindly when we need HIM most, when we ache and when we grieve. HE meets us in our joy too and HE is our truth over anything else in the world around us.

In your designated place or special spot where you go just remember, that JESUS always has something to say to you there, but you must find the time to be still.  It’s the only way to hear HIS still small voice.  And being still is good for all of us.  It’s a good mental and physical break.  I have often wondered how low my heart rate gets when I am still.  It feels so good just to sit in the quiet!

PSALM 37: 7   “BE STILL BEFORE THE LORD AND WAIT PATIENTLY FOR HIM.”

It’s not the place, it’s not the spot, it’s not the beautiful view, although that is wonderful if your eyes are looking at one, but it is about the sitting still in GOD’S presence.  Sometimes we only have a few minutes and sometimes we may have hours.  But whenever you sit still, be intentional and be engaged with HIS word and be present with your soul.

The disciples were able to see JESUS and sit in HIS presence often……..can you imagine?  They listened to HIS every word and I bet they didn’t move so as to not miss a thing.  Are we as attentive?  It’s hard to be focused when there are so many distractions these days.  I find I have to leave my phone in another room so as to not pick it up.  If we remember that those texts can wait, isn’t it worth the special time you can have with the LORD?

JOHN 14: 23   “IF ANYONE LOVES ME, HE WILL KEEP MY WORD, AND MY FATHER WILL LOVE HIM, AND WE WILL COME TO HIM AND MAKE OUR HOME WITH HIM.”

Did you catch that?  “We will come to him and make OUR home with him.”  What a comfort to know.  Our obedience in listening and learning each day comes with the above blessing.  And when our obedience is done out of love and not obligation, HE meets us with HIS love and compassion for us because of HIS love and because of HIS grace.

If you haven’t yet, find your place today.  Doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just comfortable. And remember even then, it’s not about the place or spot you choose……. it’s about our SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST!  HE wants to meet with us, every single day of our lives.

JEREMIAH 23: 18   “BUT WHICH OF THEM HAS STOOD IN THE COUNCIL OF THE LORD TO SEE OR TO HEAR HIS WORD?  WHO HAS LISTENED AND HEARD HIS WORD?”

  1. I agree that it’s a blessing to have a special ‘spot’ to meet with God each morning. I do have mine; but another ‘spot’ I like is sitting with my laptop and reading through blog posts such as yours. God is with us and communicating. ❤

    1. Oh very very sweet Kathy! Yes, in our new house I can sit on couch but love at the end of our long kitchen table. When the weather cools off I will be sitting on our patio. I love to be outside and our neighborhood I am learning is VERY quiet. I’ll take it! And praise JESUS!

  2. Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt and encouraging message. I truly appreciate the reminder that our connection with Jesus isn’t dependent on a specific place, but on our openness to meeting Him wherever we are. Your insights on finding a special spot and being intentional with our time with God are so valuable.

I resonate deeply with the struggle to be still amidst the constant distractions of daily life. It can be incredibly challenging to carve out moments of quiet when it seems like there’s always something vying for our attention. Your emphasis on being present and intentionally setting aside time to hear God’s still, small voice is a powerful reminder of how essential it is to make room for spiritual nourishment in our busy lives.

Thank you for encouraging me to focus on the essence of our relationship with Jesus rather than the external circumstances. It’s a beautiful and comforting thought that He is always with us, ready to meet us in our moments of quiet and in the midst of our daily routines.

God Bless You today and always.

    You Are Loved.

      2. Thank you Dear Sister. So I was watching Christ Church last night. The video was a bit fuzzy at times. But anyways, the gentleman that led worship yesterday, 😂🤣, yup !!! He was from my old church Harvest as well. I can’t figure out if your Pastor has any connections to my old Home Church, because it appears that he knows alot of the Vertical Worship members. Hmm 🤔

        Hope you are doing well.

      3. So tell me the worship leaders name again and I will ask Joshua when I see him. He will tell me cause he is head of all the worship. He knows Adam probably longer than me so can find that out! It’s a mission! Blessings today!

  3. About three weeks ago, you had Jake France, one of the original members of Vertical Worship. Before him, there was Judson Harris—Thor, as my wife likes to call him—who co-wrote and performed “Yes I Will.” This week, you had Todd Rooks, also from our church, Harvest Bible Chapel.

    1. From what I understand they each were kinda interviewing for the job. So we will see who we really have. Joshua certainly cannot do 5 services each weekend……..in the past he has lost his voice. Interesting you know their names and I don’t! LOL

      1. I have noticed Joshua struggling a few times during worship. I had a feeling something was off even in the short time I’ve been watching Christ Church. But following music the way I have, I was able to pick up on the strain in his voice.

That explains why many of Harvest Worship members are going from place to place. I’ve noticed that from a few churches I watch online. It’s sad because the worship team (Vertical Worship) was such an amazing group.

      2. Ugh yes so agree. I look forward to the day when we all are in one building…….we bought the huge theater next door which will one day be renovated and I assume more seating so we can have less services then. We are growing like crazy. People are hungry for expository teaching like Adam gives.

      3. I just found out today that there is a Christ Church here not to far from us. I am going to check them out on line and will let you know what I think.

      4. We are in Illinois. I watched 2 of the services. I didn’t really get anything from it. I was hoping it was going to be impactful.

      5. No kidding it’s a small world. I have not watched last week’s message yet. I started to but got distracted and didn’t finish. Maybe I’ll try to watch it tonight.

        You Are Loved as well.

I will definitely watch it tonight. I was on the phone late yesterday with a member of my old Small Group.
