The meaning of the word HOLY is to be set apart. That is who our GOD is………magnificent and HOLY. The recent spectacle shown at the opening ceremonies at the Olympics is an example of what darkness and true evil looks like. And to think this was done on the world stage to mock our HOLY GOD!
Our HOLY GOD works in ways we cannot understand. But one thing we do know and understand is that HE is HOLY and we are not. No mankind is engulfed in sin and sin is running rampant right now in our world. The darkness is increasing, but at the same time HIS light is shining even brighter.
So let’s not doubt GOD’S HOLINESS for one minute, even though the world stage is making a mockery of all that HE is. Let’s remember this:
ROMANS 14: 11 “FOR IT IS WRITTEN: “AS I LIVE, SAYS THE LORD, EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW TO ME, AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL CONFESS TO GOD.”
Every……..knee……..will……..bow. GOD, our HOLY GOD is in control and HIS word will come true one day. Never doubt HIS power and HIS HOLINESS! And this should bring us comfort when we see such darkness displayed in our society. This will continue and the evil we see will become much worse. We need to remain focused on our HOLY GOD and draw as close to HIM as we can. I wonder sometimes if we truly give HIM the reverence HE deserves?
Today is Sunday……..HIS day…….a day set apart, so it is HOLY too. It’s a day of rest, of worship and song and thankfulness for GOD sending HIS SON to rescue us. JESUS died on the Cross to bridge the gap between a HOLY GOD and sinful man.
JOHN 3: 16 “FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONE AND ONLY SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.”
For GOD so loved……..let that sink in, because that is a HOLY GOD loving us! HOLY is HE and awesome is HIS name! Who can stand in HIS HOLY place? No one and nothing can.
PSALM 29: 2 “ASCRIBE TO THE LORD THE GLORY DUE HIS NAME; WORSHIP THE LORD IN THE SPLENDOR OF HOLINESS.”
Today if you see or witness evil and darkness, remind yourself that our HOLY GOD is the great I AM, the GOD of Abraham, the GOD of Isaac and the GOD of Jacob who is worthy and righteous and HOLY. HIS name is HOLY forever and stands above them all so, today let the cry of your heart be: HOLY!
PSALM 96: 9 “WORSHIP THE LORD IN THE SPLENDOR OF HOLINESS; TREMBLE BEFORE HIM, ALL THE EARTH!”

What we see is not what our God sees. That is why He tells us in 2 Cor 5.7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
It’s a hard thing, because what we see is so real and right there. But we may be of good cheer because Jesus said so: John 16.33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
