OUR LIMITED UNDERSTANDING

We don’t see all things the way GOD does.  We only have a limited understanding of our world around us.  We learn and grow by what we see and hear.  But GOD is working in the spiritual realm, all for our benefit:

2 CORINTHIANS 4: 18   “…….AS WE LOOK NOT TO THE THINGS THAT ARE SEEN BUT TO THE THINGS THAT ARE UNSEEN.  FOR THE THINGS THAT ARE SEEN ARE TRANSIENT, BUT THE THINGS THAT ARE UNSEEN ARE ETERNAL.”

If we had all the answers and knew all things, honestly, would we have a need for GOD?  The more I know of GOD, the more I know I don’t know about HIM……..HE can be a mystery, but that is because I have a limited understanding of HIM.  My understanding only goes so far.

I don’t know about you, but I am ok with this.  HE is LORD GOD, and I am not!  I am alright with not knowing all the answers to my questions here on earth, because I believe those mysteries will be revealed in Heaven and what a wonderful thing to look forward to!  All this mystery, and all these unanswered questions makes me want to go to Heaven to be with JESUS!  HE is and will be the answer to all my soul needs.

And isn’t it a great comfort just knowing that GOD is engineering all sorts of things in the unseen, just for us!  This is where we have a limited understanding because…….

HE IS THE CREATOR AND WE ARE THE CREATED

Some religions make people their own gods.  Far be it from me to ever think I was on the same level as GOD!

ISAIAH 64: 8  “BUT NOW, O LORD, YOU ARE OUR FATHER; WE ARE THE CLAY, AND YOU ARE OUR POTTER; WE ARE ALL THE WORK OF YOUR HAND.”

GOD knows every hair upon our heads, but we will never know here on earth all we could know and understand about GOD.  HE is a mystery…….a very lovely one.  GOD cares for us and has HIS HAND upon us in ways we do not understand.  So we must ask ourselves this: “am I good with HIM knowing all about me when I certainly don’t know all about HIM?”  Some people want all the answers before they believe.  As CHRISTIANS we are comfortable with not having all the answers and it’s why we believe.

I think our faith grows the less we know about GOD and the more we learn about GOD.  It is a twofold thing.  All of this mystery is how our GOD works.  We have to develop the trust that is needed and love the LORD with all heart, soul and mind.  Honor and obey this amazing unseen GOD who works in all things, who is perfect in all things and whose love and grace is there for our taking.  It’s a blessing to think that the Sovereign GOD loves us and HIS creation, more than we will ever know or understand!

1 TIMOTHY 3: 16   “GREAT INDEED, WE CONFESS, IS THE MYSTERY OF GODLINESS: HE WAS MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH, VINDICATED BY THE SPIRIT, SEEN BY ANGELS, PROCLAMED AMONG NATIONS, BELIEVED ON IN THE WORLD, TAKEN UP IN GLORY.”

  1. Oh, I LOVE this, Maxine!

As CHRISTIANS we are comfortable with not having all the answers and it’s why we believe.“ – exactly! I’m with you: I’m okay with God knowing everything all the time, and me not knowin’ nuthin’ but Christ crucified, and Almighty Jehovah as my Lord, Saviour, and God.

  2. I so agree that as Christians we are ok with not knowing because we trust that God is sovereign and working out all things for our good and for His glory. With the uncertainty that this world brings, the assurance to have the privilege to call upon the Lord is something I hold very dear.
