How can we as the small humans we are, not gaze upon a sunrise or sunset and not see that it is all GOD’S authority that each day comes? HE allows each 24 hours that we get to live on this planet. I am strangely comforted in seeing the sun rise and always think: well GOD is given humanity another day, another chance for those who are lost to turn to HIM.
And HIS daily word shows HIS authority too…….be comforted in the fact that HIS word is the only truth right now that there is. HIS words can be counted upon because they strengthen and somehow seep into your soul when fully embraced.
Why are HIS words such a comfort? Why do they edify, convert sinners and even astonish?
MATTHEW 7: 28 -29 “AND WHEN JESUS FINISHED THESE SAYINGS, THE CROWDS WERE ASTONISHED AT HIS TEACHING, FOR HE WAS TEACHING THEM AS ONE WHO HAD AUTHORITY, AND NOT AS THEIR SCRIBES.”
As one who had authority……..people can recognize this in today’s world too. When you study HIS word you can see 3 things very clearly: HIS authority is humbling, it is astonishing and oh so very convicting!
MATTHEW 28: 18 “AND JESUS CAME AND SAID TO THEM, “ALL AUTHORITY IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH HAS BEEN GIVEN TO ME.”
What a comfort to know that HE has authority over all, the earth and all who live here. And then JESUS said this to those who were listening…….
MATTHEW 28: 20 “AND BEHOLD, I AM WITH YOU, ALWAYS, TO THE END OF THE AGE.”
HE has not and HE will not abandon us……..ever. HIS authority is forever…….it is eternal. I don’t know about you, but it takes a big weight off knowing HE is in control. We are small humans and we don’t have the capacity to take on the whole world. So we can rest easy and just put all our concerns and troubles into HIS hands and watch GOD work, work for the good of all those who call upon HIM. And sometimes we don’t even understand why HE allows some things, but that is where our absolute faith and trust come into play. If we knew the whole picture maybe it would be just too too much for us to handle. So I am comforted knowing HE keeps things hidden from us as well.
HE knows what is best for us, and what is not. So take comfort today in HIS absolute authority over your life. Rest in HIS arms because HIS authority is loving and complete.
ROMANS 13: 1 “…….SINCE THERE IS NO AUTHORITY EXCEPT FROM GOD, AND THE AUTHORITIES THAT EXIST ARE INSTITUTED BY GOD.”

Oh, you bring out some good points of comfort! God has us, He will never leave us, He reveals all He wants us to know, and He keeps hidden those things as He wills; all in His good pleasure.

AMEN, Maxine! This is why I pray every day for wisdom, discernment, and whatever knowledge I need to do His will for me in that day. I don’t need to know any more than that. Superfluous knowledge is a ticket to a bunch of rabbit trails that just waste time and make messes that need to be cleaned up!
