SUNDAY REFLECTIONS…..JESUS PRAYS FOR US

If you want to experience the Holy Ground of the Bible……..just read through JOHN 17.  JESUS not only prays for Himself, but HE prays for HIS disciples and for all future believers.  HIS words there are so compassionate, so full of grace and mercy that you may be brought to tears.

JESUS first asks the Father to be one with HIM again.  HE was one with the FATHER before the world began and HE humbly asks to be restored to HIS original place of honor.

JOHN 17: 5  “AND NOW, FATHER, GLORIFY ME IN YOUR PRESENCE WITH THE GLORY I HAD WITH YOU BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN.”

But the most wonderful expression of HIS love and grace for us are in the following words.  Feel HIS love for you as you read them:

JOHN 17: 11  “I WILL REMAIN IN THE WORLD NO LONGER, BUT THEY ARE STILL IN THE WORLD, AND I AM COMING TO YOU.  HOLY FATHER PROTECT THEM BY THE POWER OF YOUR NAME, THE NAME YOU GAVE ME, SO THAT THEY MAY BE ONE AS WE ARE ONE.”

Jesus asks for protection for us…….what a wonderful protector we have in HIM!  HE cares for us and is currently interceding for us on our behalf.  JESUS knew that HE was leaving HIS disciples and HIS followers in a dark and harsh world.  And we still have this protection today…….HE protects our hearts and minds and gives us strength and courage…….all needed today now more than ever!

So the next time you need some encouragement to know that your SAVIOR has not left you on your own, just read through JOHN 17.  If you own a red letter Bible, let those red letter words sink into your soul……..because they are life sustaining!!

JOHN 17: 24  “FATHER, I DESIRE THAT THEY ALSO, WHOM YOU HAVE GIVEN ME, MAY BE WITH ME WHERE I AM, TO SEE MY GLORY THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN ME BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.”
