SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

I was just reading about women, brave women, who have survived breast cancer, only to find that through it, they lost friends and gained new ones.  But the biggest thing they noticed was that people no longer looked them in the eye.  This is so terribly sad to me.  Really, we are a culture that tends to do this anyway.

PSALM 94: 9 “HE WHO FORMED THE EYE, DOES HE NOT SEE?”

If you think about it, the LORD gave us two eyes so we would see twice as much…….to see into each other’s souls and to connect with love and kindness.  As we know, the eyes are the windows into the soul.

Someone once told me I have very kind eyes.  They are green and I have read that less than 2% of the world’s population have green eyes!  And I have found lately, with my cancer that I fall into rare categories too.  But that in and of itself just makes me realize how GOD made each one of us so very unique.

And we are all rare, and unique even down to our own eyes…….

ECCLESIASTES 1:8  “THE EYE IS NOT SATISFIED WITH SEEING…….

OUR eyes can get us into trouble too…….sometimes they see what they want to, rather than seeing the truth right in front of them.

LUKE 11: 34  “YOUR EYE IS THE LAMP OF YOUR BODY.  WHEN YOUR EYE IS HEALTHY, YOUR WHOLE BODY IS FULL OF LIGHT…….”

Let your eyes fall upon scripture as much as possible during these dark days.  Then you will see that the images formed in your mind from the Holy Writ are truly beautiful and lovely.  Spend less time looking at the news and social media and however it is possible for you, look your fellow human being in the eye.  Look with compassion and love, knowing that the person in front of you is GOD’S child.  Do this because their eyes are windows to their soul…….and for some, that connection may be a true lifeline for them and for all, do this in JESUS NAME!

PSALM 119: 18  “OPEN MY EYES, THAT I MAY BEHOLD WONDROUS THINGS OUT OF YOUR LAW.”

PSALM 119: 37  “TURN MY EYES FROM LOOKING AT WORTHLESS THINGS; AND GIVE ME LIFE IN YOUR WAYS.”

  1. I love your heart Maxine. You are enduring one of the hardest things for women, in my opinion, and yet no matter what you point to God’s love and His holiness.

Thank you my friend for being a beacon of light for others!
