PLAIN HUMBLED

Have you been humbled recently?  I know I have due to a health diagnosis.  Somehow we seem to think we still have control over the smallest of things and that is when GOD in HIS wisdom snatches those very things out of our hands, humbling us at the same time.

IN HIS HUMBLING OF OUR VERY SOULS, WE UNDERSTAND WHO GOD TRULY IS.

EPHESIANS 1: 19  “……..AND WHAT IS THE IMMEASURABLE GREATNESS OF HIS POWER TOWARD US WHO BELIEVE, ACCORDING TO THE WORKING OF HIS GREAT MIGHT.”

HIS HOLY WORDS ALONE…….humble us.  They make us realize that every step of this life’s journey is to honor and adore HIM.  Heaven help us if HIS wisdom for us is falling on deaf ears!  Because if we read HIS word, but don’t embrace it, or apply it, we are sacrificing the very work the LORD is trying to do within us.  Lives are transformed by HIS words……they are like gold and they are a mighty treasure.

Humbling can come upon us in so many ways and often out of nowhere.  It can come from a word spoken or action taken, a loss of some kind and even a health crisis.  But let us remember that the first to take action in humbling us is our GOD.  And then our response to this humbling is an internal humbling of the soul when ultimately we realize that we cannot do a thing about the very thing that humbled us!  After our response, our wills are broken and we fall to our knees in obedience.  We break our wills with prayer and with a sincere need that is beyond us.  HIS Holiness and our lowness humble us and we begin to sit under HIS wisdom and authority like never before.

We can be confident in our humility…….that GOD is already there for us!  Why?  Because we are the ones who drifted away in the first place.  It is funny how in our drifting, we usually come to the end of ourselves one way or another.

HEBREWS 4: 16  “LET US THEN DRAW NEAR TO THE THRONE OF GRACE, THAT WE MAY RECEIVE MERCY AND FIND GRACE TO HELP IN TIME OF NEED.”

Our times of need are our times of humbling.  So let’s be thankful for that humbling of our souls, because GOD is accomplishing a great thing within us, whether we see it at the time or not.

OUR SELF RELIANCE AND PRIDE ARE DUE TO A HARDENED HEART.  IT’S OUR SELF-WILL THAT GETS US INTO TROUBLE.  AND THAT IS WHEN GOD USES HIS WAY TO HUMBLE US.

Let’s begin to ask ourselves if we spend too much time on self-focus or other focused?  Who is our focus these days?  GOD or social media?  If we take an honest look, we will be humbled right away.

ROMANS 12: 3  “FOR BY THE GRACE GIVEN TO ME, I TELL EVERYONE AMONG YOU NOT TO THINK OF HIMSELF MORE HIGHLY THAN HE SHOULD THINK.”

GOD’S humbling of our souls is a constant in our Christian walks……some lessons are easier than others.  But all of HIS lessons are designed to create in us a humble and holy heart.

LUKE 14: 11 “FOR EVERYONE WHO EXALTS HIMSELF WILL BE HUMBLED, AND THE ONE WHO HUMBLES HIMSELF WILL BE EXALTED.”

The great GOD of our universe cares in such a way, that humbling each of us is one of HIS objectives. So let’s thank HIM when HE does this humbling in us, because we have a good good GOD who truly knows what HE is doing, even when we don’t understand.  Trust HIM in HIS humbling of you, embrace it and learn from it.  Our souls are being humbled for a reason and for a season.  One day we will know, understand and be exalted in HIS sure salvation!

1 PETER 5: 6-7  “HUMBLE YOURSELVES, THEREFORE, UNDER THE MIGHTY HAND OF GOD SO THAT AT THE PROPER TIME HE MAY EXALT YOU, CASTING ALL YOUR ANXIETIES ON HIM, BECAUSE HE CARES FOR YOU.”

    1. Oh thank you so so much for reading here! I hope GOD will speak to you through my words since I am just HIS instrument. Be refreshed and comforted here too…….just as I am! Blessed so much by you reaching out to me!

  2. Maxine, I actually like it when things are out of my hands, because then I can give them to God and completely depend on Him – and He is completely dependable! When things are still in my hands, I know from experience how badly I can mess up (and get humbled), so the words, “It’s out of our hands now” are music to my ears. 😉

  3. I agree: powerful post. I love how God has so worked in you, and you have invited Him and nourished that Holy
Spirit, and abided in Him; that you can pour out your heart in a post such as this, and touch me and others, and we know it’s GOD!
Yes, God has humbled me in my past, and I’m sure there’s more to come. Each time, I learn something new about my Lord and Saviour, and where I am in Him and He is in me.
