In this current world of ours, people kinda think you are crazy if you say you follow JESUS with all heart and soul. You follow HIM with reckless abandon if you have honestly given your life to HIM. You know HIS voice, HIS care and HIS love and you know you cannot find anything on this planet that comes close to what HE offers you…….
JOHN 10: 2-3 “THE ONE WHO ENTERS BY THE GATE IS THE SHEPHERD OF THE SHEEP. THE GATEKEEPER OPENS THE GATE FOR HIM, AND THE SHEEP LISTEN TO HIS VOICE. HE CALLS HIS OWN SHEEP BY NAME AND LEADS THEM OUT.”
Sheep are mostly described as being raised for meat, fleeces, wool and sheep milk. Some people think sheep are dumb but they are there for a purpose and back in the day, shepherds used to take great care of them. JESUS spoke of sheep often and even said this:
JOHN 10: 4-5 “WHEN HE HAS BROUGHT OUT ALL HIS OWN, HE GOES ON AHEAD OF THEM, AND HIS SHEEP FOLLOW HIM BECAUSE THEY KNOW HIS VOICE. BUT THEY WILL NEVER FOLLOW A STRANGER: IN FACT, THEY WILL RUN AWAY FROM HIM BECAUSE THEY DO NOT RECOGNIZE A STRANGER’S VOICE.”
Today, ask yourself, what voices am I following? Is it news? How about influencers who only want followers? Is it someone on Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook? Because there is ONE voice that is Sovereign, full of wisdom and love for you and HE is the LORD your SHEPHERD!
The many voices of this world will tell you who you are……..JESUS will tell you “whose” you are.
JOHN 10: 27-28 “MY SHEEP LISTEN TO MY VOICE; I KNOW THEM, AND THEY FOLLOW ME. I GIVE THEM ETERNAL LIFE, AND THEY SHALL NEVER PERISH; NO ONE WILL SNATCH THEM OUT OF MY HAND.”
And there it is: following JESUS, knowing the SHEPHERD’S voice will give you eternal life and no one here will snatch you out of HIS hand! What a comfort, what a SHEPHERD to follow! And because HE leads you faithfully, HE will eventually lead you to your eternal home, a place nothing like this broken down world. I believe I would rather be a sheep with this kind of SHEPHERD than a cunning wolf who runs after all the wrong things. Our SHEPHERD is full of grace, mercy and love for HIS sheep.
We have two choices at hand each and every day, to either follow the world or follow HIS voice. Which will you choose?
JOHN 10: 11 “I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD. THE GOOD SHEPHERD LAYS DOWN HIS LIFE FOR THE SHEEP.”
