Everyone at one time or another search for their meaning in life. We ask: what does it all mean? Why do things happen this way? Where do I fit in, in this life? People are still searching for answers to these questions today after thousands of years. We learn that our lives are just a blink compared to all of eternity. And we are but a shadow compared to GOD’S light.

ECCLESIASTES 2: 3 “…….TILL I MIGHT SEE WHAT WAS GOOD FOR THE CHILDREN OF MAN TO DO UNDER HEAVEN DURING THE FEW DAYS OF THEIR LIFE.”

Our days are few – but what do all our days mean? Solomon was on a quest to find the true meaning in life. He searched all material wealth and any earthly treasure only to find that the ends in themselves held no satisfaction. All was vanity in the words of Solomon!

ECCLESIASTES 2: 11 “THEN I CONSIDERED ALL THAT MY HANDS HAD DONE AND THE TOIL I HAD EXPENDED IN DOING IT, AND BEHOLD ALL WAS VANITY AND A STIRRING AFTER WIND, AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO BE GAINED UNDER THE SUN.”

So nothing new and nothing to be gained. Why? Because life is vanity unless GOD is acknowledged. Our lives only have meaning if we revere GOD and live our lives in HIS truth and not the world’s truth. Life has meaning only if GOD is in it and HE is the context for all of it!

ECCLESIASTES 3: 14 “I PERCEIVED THAT WHATEVER GOD DOES ENDURES FOREVER, NOTHING CAN BE ADDED TO IT, NOR ANYTHING TAKEN FROM IT, GOD HAS DONE IT, SO THAT PEOPLE FEAR BEFORE HIM.”

WHATEVER GOD DOES ENDURES FOREVER.

Whatever we do, turns to ashes. Things are here today and gone tomorrow. Because of JESUS, our Savior, the wisest one of all said this and warned us……..

MATTHEW 6: 19-20 “DO NOT LAY UP FOR YOURSELVES TREASURES ON EARTH, WHERE MOTH AND RUST DESTROY AND WHERE THIEVES BREAK IN AND STEAL, BUT LAY UP FOR YOURSELVES TREASURES IN HEAVEN……..”

The only way to follow what JESUS said and take it to heart is to live vertically rather than horizontally. Our meaning is in HIM and we were made in HIS image. So why not look to JESUS for meaning…….life is futile without HIM! And HIS grace alone helps us to see and understand that here on earth, we are living for JESUS. We are created as spiritual beings, our minds are limited and the only place to find our true meaning is in CHRIST. Connect today with the CREATOR of our lives and find all the meaning you need in HIM and through HIM. And make sure to pray for those around you that GOD will open their eyes to HIS truth. Life has meaning only with GOD!

ECCLESIASTES 12: 13 “THE END OF THE MATTER; ALL HAS BEEN HEARD. FEAR GOD AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, FOR THIS IS THE WHOLE DUTY OF MAN.”
