Forgive me LORD when I try to run from the hard things. I wrote that once during a difficult time. Don’t we try to avoid and run from the hard painful things? It is our human nature to avoid whatever is painful whether it is physical or mental or deep within our souls. No one likes pain but this world is full of it and sometimes it comes a little at a time or in waves.
WE NEED TO LEARN NOT TO RUN FROM THE PAIN
PSALM 42: 11a “WHY, MY SOUL, ARE YOU DOWNCAST? WHO SO DISTURBED WITHIN ME?”
It is truly a matter of the heart…….when we run we are focused on self rather than on the ONE who gives all comfort. We place our hope in other things of the world thinking they will satisfy and take the pain away, but they never do.
PSALM 42: 11b “PUT YOUR HOPE IN GOD FOR I WILL YET PRAISE HIM, MY SAVIOR AND MY GOD.”
When the storms of life come we can either be cast down or lifted up! Which do we choose? Vertical or horizontal looking is key. Do we focus on the problem or the SAVIOR?
PSALM 42: 5 “…….FOR I WILL AGAIN PRAISE HIM FOR THE HELP OF HIS PRESENCE, MY GOD.” NASB
If you think on it then, GOD is the health of our very being, our countenance, our moods and feelings. Since GOD is good all the time, why wouldn’t we choose HIM over all our pain? We reach for the world when we have an all-knowing, Sovereign, Perfect GOD that works in us and through us. Let’s choose HIM in the midst of our pain. OUR state of being depends upon HIM and nothing else in this world. So do this today……..
HEBREWS 4: 16 “LET US THEN WITH CONFIDENCE DRAW NEAR TO THE THRONE OF GRACE, THAT WE MAY RECEIVE MERCY AND FIND GRACE TO HELP IN TIME OF NEED.”
We have pain and we suffer because our SAVIOR suffered also. May we never neglect to thank HIM in the midst of our pain. Let’s draw near today to HIS amazing throne of grace that gets us through the pain and suffering and gives us eternal hope for HIS Kingdom!
Stop running and fighting a fight that has already been won. No more useless and imperfect solutions from the world will do. Instead run into the arms of your SAVIOR, a SAVIOR who is yours forevermore.
PSALM 121: 8 “THE LORD WILL KEEP YOUR GOING OUT AND YOUR COMING IN FROM THIS TIME FORTH AND FOREVERMORE.”
We need to be like first responders who run “to” the pain!

I find much comfort in knowing God is with me wherever I run, (sometimes I get blinded), and will guide me back to my proper place in Him. But yes, the best place, if I am running, is to Him.
