Silence, in HIS presence is and can be………reverent. The early mornings for me are where I find my silence that my heart so dearly craves. Your life may be noisy and busy right now, but as soon as possible find and even fight for the silence…….the kind of quiet you find before GOD. Find the bow down, head in hands kind of quiet and why do this?
THE ENEMY USES BUSYNESS TO KEEP US FROM THIS SILENCE.
His main reason for this is quite obvious: the more crazy busy we are, the less time we have to be in GOD’S presence and the less we will hear from HIM. GOD wants us with HIM and HE has said this over and over to us……..to abide.
JOHN 15: 4 “ABIDE IN ME, AND I IN YOU.”
Our GOD is a GOD who hears us when our hearts cry out to HIM, but the silence helps us hear……..HIM! And the busier we are, the more we need our SAVIOR. In each of our 24 hour days, silence can be found.
PROVERBS 17: 1 “BETTER IS A DRY MORSEL WITH QUIET THAN A HOUSE FULL OF FEASTING WITH STRIFE.”
And how about this one too…….
LAMENTATIONS 3: 26 “IT IS GOOD THAT ONE SHOULD WAIT QUIETLY FOR THE SALVATION OF THE LORD.”
When you have GOD you have a listening ear and when you have GOD you need to also be the one who listens for HIM. We can wait in this silence…….for HIS voice and HIS wisdom and HIS plan. Because a quiet spirit is of great worth in GOD’S sight.
1 PETER 3: 4 “RATHER, IT SHOULD BE THAT OF OUR INNER SELF, THE UNFADING BEAUTY OF A GENTLE AND QUIET SPIRIT, WHICH IS OF GREAT WORTH IN GOD’S SIGHT.”
We are seen and we are heard, every day in this silence. HE sees us and is keeping account. GOD wants this silence for us……..otherwise how can we ever know HIM?
ISAIAH 32: 18 “MY PEOPLE WILL ABIDE IN A PEACEFUL HABITATION, IN SECURE DWELLINGS, AND IN QUIET RESTING PLACES.”
So enter this rest in a quiet place today, inside or out. Find the silence and find HIS peace. Because only in this reverent silence can we hear, worship and pray…….pray to the ONE who hears and to the ONE who speaks planets and oceans into existence. Who wouldn’t want to be with a GOD like this and who wouldn’t want to sit in the embrace of this kind of quiet and holiness?
I love this post. I especially love the reminder that we need to “fight” for this time with the Lord. Our time with Him are the most important minutes of our day. Thank you, Maxine. Your posts are always encouraging and powerful. ♥️

Oh thank you. Your comment is such a blessing to me. Yes sometimes we need to say NO to everything around us to fight for the silence!

Me too – in the mornings. My anchor for the day. When busyness strikes, my anchor holds & draws me back.

Ugh I cannot survive without it. If it does happen and it rarely does, the day does not go well because my mind wasn’t flooded with HIS word in the first place.
