The world will harden your heart if you let it………so, let your heart remain soft. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like it when the world grabs my heart and tries to harden it against the needs of my fellow man. I don’t like it when I turn away in disgust because I know CHRIST never did. No, HE turned towards anyone who needed HIS compassion and love! When our hearts remain soft, then our hands reach out and we have compassion on those around us.
It’s an internal problem, the problem of our hardened hearts. The world touches our hearts every day, and we must intentionally run with our hearts to JESUS and implore HIM to change us. Only HE can, only HE wants this for us, only HE is our perfect example of a soft, kind heart.
PSALM 24: 3-4 “WHO SHALL ASCEND THE HILL OF THE LORD? AND WHO SHALL STAND IN HIS HOLY PLACE? HE WHO HAS CLEAN HANDS AND A PURE HEART.”
You see, we should want JESUS to do within us what we can’t and we can’t have a pure heart without HIM. And didn’t JESUS say this in the Sermon on the Mount?
MATTHEW 5: 8 “BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART, FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD.”
I want my GOD to look inside my heart and to see a softness there. I want my heart to break for the things that break HIS heart. And so, when HE breaks our hearts, for whatever reason, the softness happens. Broken hearts function differently than hardened hearts.
Our world has gone woke and unforgiving……..have you noticed? It’s evident in everything around us and evident even in our families. The sad thing that is happening right now and they say it’s at an epidemic level is adult children estranged from their parents. This is a new thing and it is growing. There are those adult children whose hearts have hardened against their parents and they are literally cutting all ties with them. In GOD’S economy this is wrong however, because of HIS commandment to honor your mother and father. But the enemy is winning this right now and grabbing hearts, hardening them to the point of no return. And parents are shattered and broken over this. If you know someone living this, let your heart have compassion on them because it is a grief over a child that is still alive.
I have a wonderful sign that a sweet friend gave to me that says this: grow through what you go through. May our hearts today grow in compassion and love, love for those around us and love for our SAVIOR. May each step we take……..soften. Be intentional to keep your hearts soft my friends! May HIS grace continue to soften hearts within us and around us! And GOOD LORD’S DAY today!
1 JOHN 2: 15 “DO NOT LOVE THE WORLD OR ANYTHING IN THE WORLD. IF ANYONE LOVES THE WORLD, LOVE FOR THE FATHER IS NOT IN THEM.”
It’s so easy for the world to harden our hearts, but only Jesus can keep them soft and filled with love and compassion. May we continue to let His grace shape our hearts every day. Amen ❤️🙏

It is a great risk to soften our hearts because with softening comes greater ability for hurt. But it is worth it. It leads to that beautiful sign you mentioned: Grow through what you go through. I love that! The hurts, the trials & tribulations – these are how God grows us.
