When we say other people are wealthy usually we are referring to their money, home and car they drive.  But what is true wealth?  I think at one time or another we have all thought, well if I just had a little more money, then I would be happy.  Money never solves all of our problems and neither does the stuff of this world.  Oh it may satisfy in the moment, but eventually the happy wears off!

Yes we need money to live and function in society, but being truly rich has nothing to do with paper, coin or things.  

OUR TRUE WEALTH IS FOUND IN JESUS CHRIST!

Having lots of money or being even a millionaire has nothing to do with happiness.  Some of the happiest people walking around, don’t own much or have much.  If you were to ask them, they would say they have enough.

1 TIMOTHY 6:  10   “FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY IS A ROOT OF ALL KINDS OF EVIL.  SOME PEOPLE, EAGER FOR MONEY, HAVE WANDERED FROM THE FAITH AND PIERCED THEMSELVES WITH MANY GRIEFS.”

WE should look at money as a tool to help us live as best we can, but let’s not let it be our priority in life.  GOD does not want this for us.  GOD does not want us to build our entire lives on worshipping the pursuit of money.  The richest people in the world are the unhappiest and their souls are empty.  

1 TIMOTHY 6: 17   “COMMAND THOSE WHO ARE RICH IN THIS PRESENT AGE NOT TO BE HAUGHTY, NOR TO TRUST IN UNCERTAIN RICHES, BUT IN THE LIVING GOD, WHO GIVES US RICHLY ALL THINGS TO ENJOY.”

When my son was little I always said the most fun things we could do didn’t cost much.  Setting our hopes and happiness on money is so uncertain – instead let’s set our whole lives on the foundation of JESUS CHRIST because HE cares for us and knows exactly what we need…….what is enough for each of us.

Our wealth is in the wealth of our hearts……..hearts that live for JESUS, that obey HIM and worship HIM.  HE is our treasure like none other.  No amount of money or things comes close to all we have in HIM.  HE is our SAVIOR and our SALVATION.  Because we are poor in spirit, we are rich in HIS grace and mercy for us.  WE are rich in the shadow of the CROSS and how JESUS redeemed us there.  

So the next time someone might ask you:  are you wealthy or do you have a lot of money?   Say oh yes, I am rich because I have JESUS and HE is my treasure and my all and all.  Money is fleeting and it can come and go but JESUS will never leave me……..ever.  HE can’t be taken from me because HE came for me and I am HIS…….always and forever!  How richly blessed I am!

REVELATION 3: 17  “YOU SAY, I AM RICH; I HAVE ACQUIRED WEALTH AND DO NOT NEED A THING.  BUT YOU DO NOT REALIZE THAT YOU ARE WRETCHED, PITIFUL, POOR, BLIND AND NAKED.”
