IMPERFECT OBEDIENCE/STRONG FAITH

OH TO BE OBEDIENT!

How often do we obey GOD only to do it imperfectly!  We may be in a hurry or even in a mood.  Ugh we are such imperfect beings!  We realize with every step we take, we are fallen, sinful beings, but at the same time, we desire to obey GOD even if our obedience seems half-hearted.  Because we don’t know the full scope of GOD’S plan (thank goodness HE does!) we follow HIM the best we can with strong, steadfast faith.

DEUTERONOMY 30:  20   “……..LOVING THE LORD YOUR GOD, OBEYING HIS VOICE AND HOLDING FAST TO HIM, FOR HE IS YOUR LIFE AND LENGTH OF DAYS.”

Faith is our foundation and it is the assurance of what we cannot see.  So we need to hold fast to HIM.  As we walk in faith, our obedience won’t be perfect…….often we may stumble along the way.  GOD understands this in us and knows we are learning with every step.  And isn’t it a comfort to know that no matter what we do, how we mess up, that our Sovereign LORD is working things all out for the good!

ROMANS 8:  28   “AND WE KNOW THAT FOR THOSE WHO LOVE GOD ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD, FOR THOSE WHO ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE.”

And there it is……….HIS PURPOSE! HIS purpose requires our obedience rooted in our faith and love for HIM.  We follow HIM whether our obedience succeeds or fails and HE still embraces what we do or don’t do, and HE works it all out.  I am so thankful that GOD works out all the details in our lives because sometimes it is so very overwhelming.  And I am ever grateful that JESUS is kind and gentle, humble in heart and comes near to give us rest for out souls!

JEREMIAH 6:  16  “THUS SAYS THE LORD:  STAND BY THE ROADS, AND LOOK, AND ASK FOR THE ANCIENT PATHS, WHERE THE GOOD WAY IS; AND WALK IN IT, AND FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.”

What a lesson it is for us to ask……….then walk in obedience and find rest for our souls.  We may have imperfect obedience, but we have a perfect ONE who will work it all out for our good.

Remember today, the same GOD who cared for and walked with Moses, also walks with us.  Even when we sin and turn away, HE is faithful and walks beside us forevermore.

ROMANS 6: 17   “BUT THANKS BE TO GOD, THAT YOU WHO WERE ONCE SLAVES OF SIN HAVE BECOME OBEDIENT FROM THE HEART TO THE STANDARD OF TEACHING TO WHICH YOU WERE COMMITTED……..”

Oh, amen, and so am I!

As parents or teachers, we know how to ask our little ones to do things we know they can do. We don’t ask a 3-year-old to vacuum the house or solve algebra problems. But we do task them with challenges, just as our Heavenly Father does for us. If we as earthly parents can help our children along, so does our loving God Who created us.

    1. Praising GOD today with you Kathy that HE is faithful and challenges us. This is where our faith and trust come into play. And then we learn and grow. So thankful for our gentle FATHER that loves us in this way! Blessings today!
