SELF-GLORY/GOD’S GLORY

GOD’S GLORY IN THE HEAVENS.

God’s glory can be seen all around us.  Never take it all for granted.  HE displays HIS hands so we will honor and worship HIM.  But it’s our every day self-glory that gets us into trouble.  Who is on the throne of our lives?  Who comes first?  Because in GOD’S plan, it’s not about us, it’s about HIM.

Our self-glory comes in the form of self-entitlement, demanding our way and wanting to be first.  We want to be recognized and noticed for our accomplishments.  But GOD, in all of HIS glory shows us that this is not the case…….

LUKE 22: 25-27   “JESUS SAID TO THEM:  THE KINGS OF THE GENTILES LORD IT OVER THEM; AND THOSE WHO EXERCISE AUTHORITY OVER THEM CALL THEMSELVES BENEFACTORS.  BUT YOU ARE NOT TO BE LIKE THAT.  INSTEAD, THE GREATEST AMONG YOU SHOULD BE LIKE THE YOUNGEST, AND THE ONE WHO RULES LIKE THE ONE WHO SERVES.  FOR WHO IS GREATER, THE ONE WHO IS AT THE TABLE OR THE ONE WHO SERVES?”

This argument amongst the disciples was caused by sinful pride and wanting to be served rather than serving.  Once again, their self-glory was all about them.  JESUS in all of HIS glory showed the disciples what a humble heart with eyes on the LORD should do.

Look through the scriptures, especially the GOSPELS and you will see how JESUS redirects people’s attention to GOD and HIS glory rather than their own self-centeredness.

OUR SELF-GLORY COMPETES DAILY WITH GOD’S GLORY

Every day we require an attitude adjustment that only can happen through GOD’S convicting word.  So go there today, find HIS glory and worship and revere HIM.

1 CHRONICLES 16: 10   “GLORY IN HIS HOLY NAME; LET THE HEARTS OF THOSE WHO SEEK THE LORD REJOICE!”

Self-glory makes us angry, critical and judgmental human beings.  We become constant complainers unable to be thankful for HIS many blessings upon us.  Self-glory never produces fruit, because instead it is a consumer of all good things.

Our very own self-glory should just awaken us to the fact of how much we need a glorious FATHER in Heaven.  God designed us to see this glory for what it is: grace upon grace.

REVELATION 7: 12   “BLESSING AND GLORY AND WISDOM AND THANKSGIVING AND HONOR AND POWER AND MIGHT BE TO OUR GOD FOREVER AND EVER!  AMEN.”

GOD’S word teaches us about HIS glory and it humbles us to our core.  GOD has a way of showing us HIS glory in all things, especially when we are too full of ourselves!

GOD’S GLORY CANNOT BE IGNORED

Remember today and remind yourself that GOD’S glory is so much more glorious than our own, more glorious than we can ever understand and more glorious than we will ever be!  Glorify HIM today my friends!

JOHN 11: 40   “THEN JESUS SAID, DID I NOT TELL YOU THAT IF YOU BELIEVE, YOU WILL SEE THE GLORY OF GOD?”

  1. I can think of several times when I’ve thought, “It’s MY turn,” and put myself out front. Consequently, I was embarrassed or sorry or humbled or all of that. God teaches us that it’s just not worth it to try to get the glory for ourselves – it doesn’t bring happiness or satisfaction. On the other hand, I love when I’ve felt obedient and humble under His Hand; and I love the joy & peace that brings.

  2. Such a powerful reminder, Sis. His Glory is all around us… We just need eyes to see and hearts to surrender.

May we live to reflect Him, not ourselves.
Be Blessed and Be a Blessing.

    You Are Loved.
