THE CHALLENGE OF A BLOCKED DOOR

When GOD closes one door, another one opens.

In our lives, GOD often closes a door only to open another one for us.  I believe this is due to the fact that HIS plans are always better than our own.

ISAIAH 55: 8-9   “FOR MY THOUGHTS ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS, NOR ARE YOUR WAYS MY WAYS, SAYS THE LORD.  FOR AS THE HEAVENS ARE HIGHER THAN THE EARTH, SO ARE MY WAYS HIGHER THAN YOUR WAYS, AND MY THOUGHTS THAN YOUR THOUGHTS.”

Are you dealing with a closed door that is blocked shut?  I am and it concerns my son who is so very precious to me.  Without going into much detail, I have prayed, begged and cried my eyes out over the situation asking GOD to open this door.  But in this current season, this door is blocked.  But GOD!  HE is near me and is a great comfort.  I have come to know that it is all about trust, letting go and still praising GOD for all of the blessings I do have.  I am looking to the PROBLEM SOLVER now, instead of the problem.  And I am leaning into the LORD even more and asking HIM to hold close my shattered heart.

Oh how GOD knows better than we do………there is a reason and purpose in everything GOD does for us and through us.  How often do we not see the solution or understand the door that is slammed shut in our faces?  Do I keep pounding on the door or do I release my grip on it and hand it over to the SOVEREIGN GOD OF THE UNIVERSE?

Blocked doors are confusing and frustrating and we ask why over and over.  But GOD says, not now, and maybe not ever.  Maybe GOD’S solution is something our hearts would never conceive on our own.

2 JOHN 1: 9   “EVERYONE WHO GOES ON AHEAD AND DOES NOT ABIDE IN THE TEACHING OF CHRIST, DOES NOT HAVE GOD.”

Let’s not get ahead of GOD when it comes to those blocked doors.  We cannot solve the situation on our own, but we can pray, we can draw close and we can mature in our faith.  In my current season, GOD wants me closer, deeper and to trust even more, all the while praising HIM in HIS glory!  Character and trust is often developed when blocked doors happen.

2 THESSALONIANS 1: 12   “THEN THE NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS WILL BE HONORED BECAUSE OF THE WAY YOU LIVE AND YOU WILL BE HONORED ALONG WITH HIM.  THIS IS ALL MADE POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF THE GRACE OF OUR GOD AND LORD, JESUS CHRIST.”

Blocked doors are all about HIS grace, HIS strength, HIS wisdom and in the end my weakness!  When I am weak and desperate, then HE is strong for me and through me because HE tells us so:

2 CORINTHIANS 12: 9   “HE SAID TO ME, MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT  FOR YOU, FOR MY POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS.”

So I am weak, this door I have been staring at for a while now is strong, but GOD can open it when the time is perfect, because of HIS power that is perfect in weakness.  It’s the hope that I have and I am trusting in HIS provision for me.

JEREMIAH 29: 11   “FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU, DECLARES THE LORD, “PLANS TO PROSPER YOU AND NOT TO HARM YOU, PLANS TO GIVE YOU HOPE AND A FUTURE.”

  1. I hurt for you and with you, Maxine. 🫂 I will update my prayer notebook where your name is written.

I too have a son (grown), and my heart hurts sometimes when I think of where our relationship has been, where it is now, and where it might be going (and where he might be going). I am so grateful to God that He has it all in loving control. Even if I can’t see behind that blocked door, God is working there, too.

    1. Oh my Kathy, so you too? Ugh it’s hard to put your mind around that fact that the son you raised is not really in your life. Thanks for your prayers Kathy. But I do take comfort in knowing that GOD has it in HIS capable HANDS.

  2. Your faith in the midst of heartache is deeply moving. God’s timing is perfect, even when we don’t understand the delay. He sees your tears, holds your heart, and is working all things together for good.

Trust His higher plan, even through the pain.

    You Are Loved.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend.
