Recently I read in Max Lucado’s devotional book:  GOD IS WITH YOU EVERY DAY the following:

DON’T MEASURE YOUR LIFE BY YOUR ABILITY; MEASURE IT BY GOD’S.

Measure your ability with the world’s and you will fall short.  Measure your ability by GOD and your ability is endless and even powerful!  GOD completes us where we fall short……always.

LUKE 6: 38  “GIVE, AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU.  A GOOD MEASURE, PRESSED DOWN, SHAKEN TOGETHER AND RUNNING OVER WILL BE POURED INTO YOUR LAP.  FOR WITH THE MEASURE YOU USE, IT WILL BE MEASURED TO YOU.”

Our abilities only go so far because we are flawed humans.  But GOD!  HIS abilities are immeasurable and never ending.  HIS good measure will be running over for us……..it means a forever pouring.  GOD’S Spirit does that.  It pours into us over and over with no ending.  

MEASURE YOUR LIFE AND SEE GOD’S ABILITY OVER YOUR OWN.

Our human hands and feet can only accomplish so much, but with GOD?  Oh, so much more can be done and accomplished through the Spirit and HIS leading.

Even GOD’S ability to speak to us goes beyond what we may understand and yet we should measure HIS words to us carefully…….

MARK 4: 24   “AND HE SAID TO THEM, PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU HEAR:  WITH THE MEASURE YOU USE IT WILL BE MEASURED TO YOU, AND STILL MORE WILL BE ADDED TO YOU.”

Still…….more…….will……..be……..added!  As finite beings we always seem to want more.  We ask and then we receive as GOD sees fit.   But then, HE even takes it all a step further……..and gives us even more…….still more to us!  What a great GOD we have!

WHERE THERE IS A PROBLEM, SEE GOD’S ABILITY OVER YOUR OWN.

Because GOD is omnipotent, HIS measurements are very different from ours.  Take comfort in that.  HIS abilities are far beyond our own.  They never end and truly are immeasurable.

ISAIAH 40:  12   “WHO HAS MEASURED THE WATERS IN THE HOLLOW OF HIS HAND, OR WITH THE BREADTH OF HIS HAND MARKED OFF THE HEAVENS?”

All of GOD’S abilities and HIS outpouring of HIS Spirit and love goes beyond any of our full understanding.  We can only measure so far!

So, hold on today, not to your own doing, but to HIS ability to walk with you and solve any problem you may have.  Remember, our ability only goes so far and HIS is eternal.  Depend upon HIM!
