GOD’s goal for us is to make us more like CHRIST and not to give us everything we want in this life.  HIS love for HIS children goes beyond anything we can imagine on this earth.  In all of our wanderings and strivings and personal goals we set for ourselves, we can never come near on our own to what HE wants us to be……..like CHRIST.  Only through HIM and in HIM is this possible.

We all set goals for ourselves and some we achieve and others seem impossible.  But there is nothing that is not possible to achieve with GOD!  HIS goal from the beginning, was good.  When HE made us, HE said HIS creation………was good.  HE did this because:

LUKE 18: 19   “NO ONE IS GOOD EXCEPT GOD ALONE.”

So what is our goal with GOD?  Do we have one?  Do we ask HIM to show us what HE wants from us?  If our hearts and minds are set on JESUS, then ultimately we want to hear these words: 

MATTHEW 25: 21   “WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.”

GOD wants us to remain faithful to HIM.  Oh there are many things we are faithful to every day, but our priority should be in our faithfulness to the ONE who made us and saved us from eternal damnation.  Do we reject our old ways and let GOD mold us into the people HE wants us to be?  Are we daily submitting to HIS refining of us some of which can be painful?

GOD’S GOAL IS FOR US TO BECOME MORE CHRISTLIKE

But what better goal to have!  I want to be more like Christ and less like, well, me.  Ugh.  Being like JESUS is so much better isn’t it?  When I am most like me, the sinful me, oh it’s so hard just to look myself in the mirror.  But when I reflect CHRIST, oh the love, grace and beauty of it all!

LESS OF ME……..MORE OF CHRIST.

Now mind you, I don’t know all of GOD’S goals………HE is GOD and I am not.  But one goal for mankind has already been achieved.  And that goal was good too:  CHRIST died while we were still sinners.  HE rose again on the third day and has removed all of our transgressions.

PSALM 103: 12   “AS FAR AS THE EAST IS FROM THE WEST, SO FAR HAS HE REMOVED OUR TRANSGRESSIONS FROM US.”

Yes, there is more to this world than sickness, sin and death.  YES!  Our GOD is good and HIS good good plan and goal is and was to not be separated from HIS creation.  HE sent JESUS to stand in the gap for us.  HIS goal should be ours……..to become more like HIS one and only SON.  LORD, make us into a people that are more like YOUR SON JESUS, every single day of our lives!

1 CORINTHIANS 6:11   “BUT YOU WERE WASHED, YOU WERE SANCTIFIED, YOU WERE JUSTIFIED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND BY THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD.”
