SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

Take one small step of obedience every day

So here we are…….it’s a New Year.  And how can we walk our walks being closer to the LORD?  We know GOD has come near, now what can we do intentionally on our part?

DECIDE TODAY TO TAKE ONE STEP OF OBEDIENCE

Start today, take that small step and watch how GOD works.  It will change your life.  But in order to do this, we need to take stock of where we are in our walk with HIM.  Life can become exciting when we humble ourselves and let GOD take the wheel.  HE tends to take us up mountains and then down through the valleys, but all to teach us and to grow us into Kingdom people.  And I want to grow, don’t you?

This year is a clean slate in front of us……….full of HIS hope for us.  Let’s step out in obedience, following what GOD’S promises tell us and following HIS commands.  We all want a clean slate each year and the calendar for 2025 looms bright in front of us.

JOHN 13: 34   “A NEW COMMAND I GIVE YOU:  LOVE ONE ANOTHER.  AS I HAVE LOVED YOU, SO YOU MUST LOVE ONE ANOTHER.”

Love, just love……..one another.  There seems to be so much hate swirling around in our world right now and in order for our testimony to be true, we need to show love not just to the people who are easy to be around, but to the difficult ones too.

One new step of obedience, to love one another……..as HE commands.

We can trust GOD to help us in our step of obedience, pray about it and ask for HIS wisdom.  None of this can we do on our own or in our own will.  We can trust GOD and can place our full confidence in HIM, in HIS strength because with HIM we stand clearly upon a solid ROCK.

PSLAM 40: 2   “…….HE SET MY FEET ON A ROCK AND GAVE ME A FIRM PLACE TO STAND.”

I need to know the path beneath my feet is a solid one, because shaky ground is so uncertain.  And GOD’s rock is strong and will not be shaken.  So stand there, in obedience.  Break your own will and make HIS will your own.  In your step of obedience this year know that you step upon a ROCK that is secure and never changing.

GOD NEVER CHANGES WHO HE IS……..BUT WE DO.

JAMES 1: 17   “EVERY GOOD AND PERFECT GIFT IS FROM ABOVE, COMING DOWN FROM THE FATHER OF THE HEAVENLY LIGHTS, WHO DOES NOT CHANGE LIKE SHIFTING SHADOWS.”

Don’t make resolutions this year that you will not keep.  Like the rest of the world, they all fall away usually by February.  Instead choose a word or phrase to set your heart on all year that will encourage you to be obedient in your step.  My word phrase as an example this year is:

GRATITUDE……..PURPOSE…….STRENGTH…….CONNECTION

GOD  sent me these words in my search for what I needed to do this year in obedience.  It’s more than one thing to focus on, but I am in a season where I can do this and not be overwhelmed.  How about you?  Ask GOD today, what can I be obedient in?  Then do it…….one step at a time.

Small steps of obedience can and usually do lead to something bigger.  Just take that step out in faith because the LORD holds you securely in HIS capable HANDS today and every day.  HE knows our future and HE knows our path.

JEREMIAH 29: 11   “FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU, DECLARES THE LORD, PLANS TO PROSPER YOU AND NOT TO HARM YOU, PLANS TO GIVE YOU HOPE AND A FUTURE.”

Have a blessed Sunday and would love to hear what your step in obedience is this year!  One small step…….one BIG GOD!

  1. GOD NEVER CHANGES WHO HE IS……..BUT WE DO.” – Truth in that! As we continue in our walk with Him, and learn from Him, He changes us. We can allow circumstances to change us, and each change / which direction is up to us. Lord willing, I will allow His changes and follow in His footsteps.

Your phrase completes the transformation, in that we must connect: not only with God, but with each other! We are here to give Him glory, and we do that in front of people, so they may see His glory.

    1. So true that you said this! We must connect. I have a phrase to live by this year. It is: Gratitude, Purpose, Strength, Connection. I wrote it down on a blackboard where I will see it every day. I pray HE will change me in those things……..always for the better and however HE sees fit. Blessings today!
