SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

CHRISTMAS IS COMING

And so here we are again………another Christmas season.   We search for just the right gift and we get distracted by all the glitter and festivities.  Christmas is not something to be found…….Christmas is the ONE who came for us.

LOVE CAME DOWN AT CHRISTMAS

JESUS is the gift and HE is the greatest gift you could ever have.  HE is the gift of grace and forgiveness and mercy and love.  GOD gave HIS one and only SON as a gift for all of mankind.  Why would we not embrace HIM?

ISAIAH 11:  1-2   “THEN A SHOOT WILL SPRING UP FROM THE STUMP OF JESSE, AND A BRANCH FROM HIS ROOTS WILL BEAR FRUIT.  THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD WILL REST ON HIM – THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING, THE SPIRIT OF COUNSEL AND STRENGTH, THE SPIRIT OF KNOWLEDGE AND FEAR OF THE LORD.”

So in all of our searching this Christmas, maybe what we should really be doing is quietly waiting.  With hands folded and hearts open, we can wait expectantly for the LORD JESUS and HIS coming.  HE comes for me and for you.  HE waits too for us to turn to HIM.  And that is HIS grace for us.  HIS coming into our lives makes a huge difference.  HIS coming radically changes and transforms people into KINGDOM people.  HIS Kingdom is glorious, restful and peaceful.

ISAIAH 11:  10  “ON THAT DAY THE ROOT OF JESSE WILL STAND AS A BANNER FOR THE PEOPLES.  THE NATIONS WILL SEEK HIM, AND HIS PLACE OF REST WILL BE GLORIOUS.”

GOD’S kingdom is what we are patiently waiting for……..because GOD chose us in the first place.  Not the other way around.  It certainly wasn’t our idea, no mankind is way too sinful.  WE are sinful enough to be thrown into the gates of hell.

A BABY WAS BORN LONG AGO AND THAT BABY GREW INTO A MAN WHO SHED HIS BLOOD ON A TREE FOR YOU AND FOR ME.

Remember HIM today………look for HIM, because HE is there waiting for you.  HE desires that you behold HIM with all of your heart.  Put JESUS back into CHRISTMAS and let the world fall away.  Because HE is the true and best gift.  A gift that will never break or that you have to return.  HE is your eternal SAVIOR, GOD, IMMANUEL, GOD WITH US!

LUKE 2: 6-7   “WHILE THEY WERE THERE, THE TIME CAME FOR HER CHILD TO BE BORN.  AND SHE GAVE BIRTH TO HER FIRSTBORN, A SON.  SHE WRAPPED HIM IN SWADDLING CLOTHS AND LAID HIM IN A MANGER, BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ROOM FOR THEM IN THE INN.”

  1. I love your thoughts of putting all else aside, and quietly waiting on God. In Him is our rest (and His place of rest will be glorious, as Isaiah says!), and it’s where we find our peace because He infuses us, and He is our peace.

Praying you find much time to wait on God in His peace, dear Lady!
