Our heart is the seat of the soul. We know what we carry close to our hearts and the LORD alone knows our hearts better than anyone.
We might think we know all that our hearts hold or carry………there is love for one another, family, children and friends. But who holds our hearts when they become shattered?
LET YOUR HEART BE FOUND IN JESUS’ HUMBLE AND KIND HANDS
HE is a safe place because HE is kind and gracious and ready to give you comfort and peace. Carrying around a shattered heart is very difficult.
JOEL 2: 13 “REND YOUR HEART AND NOT YOUR GARMENTS. RETURN TO THE LORD YOUR GOD, FOR HE IS GRACIOUS AND COMPASSIONATE, SLOW TO ANGER AND ABOUNDING IN LOVE…….”
Bring your shattered heart before the LORD and watch HIM help you pick up all the pieces and then mend them and put it all back together. Your heart may be different then it was before the shattering, but your heart will be pliable. Your heart will be able to bend freely without breaking. It will be yielding and adjustable to most situations. Your heart will be a heart of flesh rather than a heart of stone.
I listened recently to a sweet friend as she poured out her broken grief-stricken heart to me. I knew as she did too that only GOD could mend her heart. It may take some time, but I trust HIM to do this for her, like no one else can. GOD is a mender – a mender of shattered hearts.
EZEKIAL 36: 26 “I WILL GIVE YOU A NEW HEART AND PUT A NEW SPIRIT IN YOU; I WILL REMOVE FROM YOU YOUR HEART OF STONE AND GIVE YOU A HEART OF FLESH.”
Maybe our hearts need to be shattered in order to have this heart of flesh GOD speaks of. I told my friend that even though she was broken……..she was still beautiful, beautiful in HIS eyes.
I like what Lysa Terkeurst says on the cover of her book “Seeing Beautiful Again”, that “right now- in the middle of what’s breaking your heart – that aching pain you feel – it’s actually proof there’s a beautiful remaking in process.”
I don’t think GOD will allow it, the full shattering of our hearts and then just leaving them that way! No, GOD has a plan, a wise plan to put all the pieces back together, but yet different and better. And in this HE helps us to see differently and to understand differently while drawing closer to HIM. In the remaking, we are better for it. In the breaking, we are becoming………becoming beautiful……..becoming more like JESUS.
Who holds your heart? I know JESUS holds mine. And I know of HIS kindness and HIS patience with me, with my heart healing and growing. May we all look to the ONE whose heart is Holy. Let’s trust HIS goodness for each of us. Because HE loves us and redeems our hearts to love HIM even more!

I thank God that He does not need our permission to give us hearts of flesh. Sometimes we don’t trust Him – don’t think He will do what we want Him to do. Therein lies the trust of surrender. He will do more than we ask or think (1 Cor 2.9). We will more fully receive His blessings when we participate in His works.

What a treasure Jesus is to us! I’m so grateful we can trust Him with our whole hearts. Even when we feel surrounded in the dark, His love brings light.
