SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

DON’T GET ON WITHOUT JESUS

As we walk daily in HIS grace we have a way, a means of remaining in HIM……..abiding in HIM.

There are three habits of grace that help us to live in the outpouring of HIS favor and grace and they are these:

  • Reading the Word
  • Prayer
  • Fellowship

These are the means in which we experience HIS amazing grace.  Reading daily in HIS word allows us to hear the heart of GOD, to know HIM and to love HIM with our hearts.

DEUTERONOMY 8: 3   “…….THAT HE MIGHT MAKE YOU KNOW THAT MAN DOES NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT MAN LIVES BY EVERY WORD THAT COMES FROM THE MOUTH OF THE LORD.”

As Christians, we take in HIS word, ponder over it and embrace it and then we live it out daily in our lives.  I’m so very thankful that our Church and Pastor preaches that the word is GOD-Breathed!  Our leadership does not take the word lightly.  When we understand this about the word, desire it and are in awe of it, then we will let it soak into us as much as possible.

IN HIS WORD THERE IS AN ENDLESS SUPPLY OF HIS GRACE!

Put more of HIS wisdom into you, rather than what the world tells you.  HIS word is perfect and true and you can trust it fully.  Gain understanding and love GOD with all your heart, soul and mind and remember this:

JEREMIAH 9: 24   “BUT LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THIS, THAT HE UNDERSTANDS AND KNOWS ME, THAT I AM THE LORD WHO PRACTICES STEADFAST LOVE, JUSTICE AND RIGHTEOUSNESS IN THE EARTH.  FOR IN THESE THINGS I DELIGHT, DECLARES THE LORD.”

In HIS grace we also connect with the LORD in prayer.  Sometimes this is a stumbling block for us, but I find the more I do it, the more comfortable I become speaking to GOD.  And I will admit, the hard part is sitting still, listening and even waiting on an answer.  But I know that GOD knows this and sees, is patient with me and because of HIS gift of HIS grace, I return over and over back to the CROSS because it is all about HIM, not me.

And finally there is fellowship.  Are you actively engaged with a group of Christians?  Are you in study, and do you attend a local Church?  I know some people have been burned by a Church or even fellow Christians, but I encourage you to keep looking.  Also, so many Churches now show their sermons online.  It’s how I found my present Church.  Thank goodness for livestream!

Christians were never meant to walk alone, we were made for more, we were made for fellowship with other believers.  It is there that we receive the encouragement, love and guidance we need.  And it is there that we experience GOD’S goodness and compassion.  It is there that we grow into maturity.  Anchor yourself in HIS word, in your prayer life and in fellowship.  GOD helps us with all of this if you are saying, ugh it’s hard to do.  But HIS grace in all of this is immeasurable and let’s remember this too today:

EZEKIAL 36: 27  “AND I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU AND CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN MY STATUTES AND BE CAREFUL TO OBEY MY RULES.”

So we are never alone in any of this: in reading the word, in prayer or in fellowship.  GOD is with us in every way, because HE gave us greater grace than we could ever know or understand.  It is HIS gift to us and HIS eternal love for us.

HEBREWS 10:  23-25   “LET US HOLD FAST THE CONFESSION OF OUR HOPE WITHOUT WAVERING, FOR HE WHO PROMISED IS FAITHFUL.  AND LET US CONSIDER HOW TO STIR UP ONE ANOTHER TO LOVE AND GOOD WORKS, NOT NEGLECTING TO MEET TOGETHER, AS IS THE HABIT OF SOME, BUT ENCOURAGING ONE ANOTHER, AND ALL THE MORE AS YOU SEE THE DAY DRAWING NEAR.”

  1. And it all boils down to what you said: “because it is all about HIM, not me.

He put His spirit within us so that we could fellowship intimately with Him. He moves us to do and speak with others because He loves us and wants us to glorify Him – it’s how we receive blessings.

I am always amazed at how intricately God designed everything so perfectly!

  3. The verses you shared from Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Hebrews are all wonderful reminders of God’s steadfast love, His Spirit within us, and the importance of encouraging one another. Thank you for this thoughtful and uplifting message. It’s a great encouragement to continue anchoring ourselves in His Word, prayer, and fellowship, knowing that God’s grace covers us and strengthens us in every step of our journey.
