SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

May your heart be right today.  We all have a sin condition and it always starts with our heart.  I recently read this in my Swindoll study Bible:

WHEN YOUR HEART IS RIGHT, YOUR FEET ARE SWIFT FOR GOD.

So we may be checking off the boxes of Christian things to do like Bible Study, going to Church or even a Christian seminar.  But these don’t mean anything unless our heart is in the right condition.  The condition of your heart matters.  It is everything.

2 CHRONICLES 16: 9   “THE EYES OF THE LORD SEARCH THE WHOLE EARTH IN ORDER TO STRENGTHEN THOSE WHOSE HEARTS ARE FULLY COMMITTED TO HIM.”

When your heart is right, you are bold for CHRIST and the gospel.  When your heart is right you are more available to humbly serve.  When your heart is right you reach out and touch other lost souls.  When your heart is right, your hands are willing to do just about anything in front of you.

We must examine our hearts daily to see if they are hardened due to the influence of the world, or are our hearts softened due to the time spent in GOD’S word?  I know that we all get busy and it’s hard to find time, but make time with the LORD and put your heart into HIS hands so HE can mold it and change it.  Nothing on earth can do this except GOD.  You cannot do it on your own.  We cannot say, oh I will change and attempt that change in our own strength.  It never happens does it?  Only with HIS help can we change a heart that needs changing.

When our hearts grow cold and distant, that is when we have a sin problem.  Just going through the motions is a problem.  Putting off our devotions is a problem too.   Putting off our quiet time is a problem……..the condition of our hearts can either help our daily walk or hurt it.

And back to the quote from Swindoll.  Don’t we truly want to have swift feet for the LORD?  When HE says go shouldn’t our hearts be ready with no excuses?

LUKE 6: 45   “A GOOD MAN OUT OF THE GOOD TREASURE OF HIS HEART BRINGS FORTH GOOD; AND AN EVIL MAN OUT OF THE EVIL TREASURE OF HIS HEART BRINGS FORTH EVIL.”

If you sense today that your heart needs changing, then reach out to GOD and ask HIM to do it.  JESUS sees us for what we will be and where our hearts will be, growing and changing and having a heart more like HIS.

PSALM 51: 10   “CREATE IN ME A PURE HEART, O GOD, AND RENEW A STEADFAST SPIRIT WITHIN ME.”

  1. Your heart is right: you reach out and touch all of us, and I love it!

Chuck Swindoll may be right about the heart and the feet; sometimes it’s the heart and the swift fingers. 😉
