There is no place I would rather go for wisdom or advice than the Bible.  Because a written document gets it’s authority from one place:  the author of the document.

THE BIBLE IS AN AUTHORATATIVE BOOK WRITTEN BY GOD FOR HIS PEOPLE.

All scripture is breathed out by GOD, so we should take it seriously and look to it to know GOD and how we should live our lives for HIM.

1 TIMOTHY 3: 16   “…….ALL SCRIPTURE IS BREATHED OUT BY GOD AND PROFITABLE FOR TEACHING, FOR REPROOF, FOR CORRECTION, AND FOR TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

God’s authority speaks through the Bible’s truth and commands.  Some are simple and some are complicated and some are a mystery.  But all are given by HIS loving Hand.  I can’t help but believe that in HIS grace and compassion, GOD wanted us to have the only truth the world would ever know.

GOD should be in command of our lives and therefore we answer to HIM and only HIM.  No one person or governmental powers has the authority that GOD has.

GOD’S record, HIS authority of the Bible, is HIS story of redemption, forgiveness and grace.  All of which should leave us in awe of our big GOD of this very universe we live in.

So, I think that going to the Bible for all reasons, is the best place to go to know how to live your life with intention and purpose.  Isn’t that what we all are looking for?  Purpose?  Answers to the question: why am I here?

PROVERBS 30: 5   “EVERY WORD OF GOD PROVES TRUE; HE IS A SHIELD TO THOSE WHO TAKE REFUGE IN HIM.”

Our Pastor at our Church reminds us every single weekend before he reads from scripture for us to know to do this:  “let’s remember that these are the very words of GOD!” 

I love that reminder so that I don’t take GOD’S words for granted!  I want my eyes and ears to be in awe of what is breathed out by our wonderful Savior.

Because of GOD’S authority we should never miss HIS message to us about who we truly are:  

ROMANS 5: 8   “WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US.”

That’s the good news for us, that is our hope of the New Testament.  The Old Testament has been pointing us to JESUS every since it was written by GOD’S authority and ever since the beginning of time.

God’s authority for us is part of our faith journey.  God always backs up HIS word, because of HIS impeccable character and because HE says “I WILL” in HIS commands.  So may we have the discretion  we need, given by the Spirit’s leading, to live out HIS commands and HIS truth.  May we trust what GOD says to us and treasure HIS word above all we know.  Rest today dear reader, and I will rest with you, in HIS authority above all else and let’s know HIS peace that goes beyond all our understanding.

PROVERBS 2:  3-5  “…….YES, IF YOU CALL OUT FOR INSIGHT AND RAISE YOUR VOICE FOR UNDERSTANDING, IF YOU SEEK IT LIKE SILVER AND SEARCH FOR IT AS FOR HIDDEN TREASURES, THEN YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE FEAR OF THE LORD AND FIND THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD.”
