Long ago shields were used to protect the body and especially the heart.  If you think about it, in more recent times we used a shield for the face for protection during the pandemic.  A shield is a strong covering, a defensive armor that protects and defends and it serves as a protective barrier.   Isn’t it good to know that GOD is a shield for our hearts and our souls?

We need to know that GOD alone is our shield in every way possible…….

2 SAMUEL 22: 3  “……..MY GOD, MY ROCK, IN WHOM I TAKE REFUGE, MY SHIELD, AND THE HORN OF MY SALVATION, MY STRONGHOLD AND MY REFUGE, MY SAVIOR…….”

Oh how HE shields and protects!  But oh how we need HIS shield of salvation.

PSALM 5: 12  “FOR YOU BLESS THE RIGHTEOUS, O LORD; YOU COVER HIM WITH FAVOR AS WITH A SHIELD.”

HIS favor upon us is HIS grace and HIS love for us.  HE is a shield all around us and around our paths in life. And once we believe, and we confess of our sins, we are forgiven and we are saved by our LORD and Savior, JESUS CHRIST.

PSALM 18: 35  “YOU HAVE GIVEN ME THE SHIELD OF YOUR SALVATION, AND YOUR RIGHT HAND SUPPORTED ME…….”

Isn’t that just the best news!  Isn’t HE worthy of all of our praise for this shield of salvation?

PSALM  84: 9  “BEHOLD OUR SHIELD, O GOD, LOOK ON THE FACE OF YOUR ANOINTED!

GOD watches us, protects us, provides for us and guides us through life.  HIS shield around us never leaves us.  Once it is given it always remains.  Because our GOD is good that way and faithful to those HE loves.  HE is our saving refuge and our shepherd who carries us in HIS hands forever and will never let us go!  Take comfort today in HIS protective shield for you and know HE is near and HIS shield for you lasts for all eternity!

PSALM 28:  7  “THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH AND MY SHIELD; IN HIM MY HEART TRUSTS, AND I AM HELPED.”
