I came across a scripture the other day that has me remembering it quite often and it is this:

JOSHUA 23: 11  “BE VERY CAREFUL, THEREFORE, TO LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD.”

It’s the be very careful that caught my attention.  Other translations say:  take diligent heed……take careful heed……watch yourselves carefully…….take good heed.   The Legacy Standard Bible says it this way:

JOSHUA 23: 11  “SO KEEP YOUR SOULS VERY CAREFULLY TO LOVE YAHWEH YOUR GOD.”

So, be very careful, take heed, pay attention.  All of these words should convict us with how we love the LORD.  And hasn’t HE told us to love HIM with all heart, soul and mind?

Do I give the LORD careful thought in the same way I do for other things or people in my life?  And what does being very careful look like?

Being diligent is being steady……..being earnest in my efforts.  In being very careful I am marked by my caution and attentive concern for my FATHER in Heaven.

Another scripture reminds us of this:

PROVERBS 4: 26  “GIVE CAREFUL THOUGHT TO THE PATHS FOR YOUR FEET AND BE STEADFAST IN ALL YOUR WAYS.”

Watch…….ponder……..consider.  Be very careful in all your ways, or your ways will soon become the world’s ways!

Give careful thought to how you run this life’s race…….because you want to finish well.  In order to do this, we must love the LORD our GOD with all our being.  In spite of the situations around us, may we honor and glorify the GOD we know.  May we be in awe of HIM and HIS word daily.  Let’s be intentional and careful, not flippant about our LORD as some have been known to do.

So be very careful today, it’s Sunday.   Honor HIM with your words and actions.  And then continue this throughout your next week.

JOSHUA 22: 5  “ONLY BE VERY CAREFUL TO OBSERVE THE COMMANDMENT AND THE LAW THAT MOSES THE SERVANT OF THE LORD COMMANDED YOU, TO LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND TO WALK IN ALL HIS WAYS AND TO KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS AND TO CLING TO HIM AND TO SERVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL.”
