Somewhere in your silent night……..there is peace. This Christmas you will find peace and know HIS peace, because JESUS comes and brings us peace.
JOHN 14: 27 “PEACE I LEAVE WITH YOU; MY PEACE I GIVE TO YOU. NOT AS THE WORLD GIVES DO I GIVE TO YOU.”
Jesus gives us peace………peace in the storm and peace in the night. HE brings us peace in our silent nights and HE is your peace in your life. The world gives us chaos and confusion. JESUS gives us light, hope and the steady peace that surrounds us in HIS pure love.
JESUS comes for us every Christmas, because love came down. JESUS was born and was the good news. And HE came on a silent night and HE comes now in yours and in mine. So let’s look for HIM in the quiet, the quiet before the tree and in the silence of the night.
Because these days there is not enough quiet for us all, there needs to be more of it! We need this quiet to still our souls before GOD. So find your quiet place and behold the BABE in the manger. Contemplate HIS coming and read the Christmas story to yourself.
The Shepherds must have been quiet in the fields that night keeping watch. I imagine it was a clear night with bright stars shining.
LUKE 2: 8 “AND THERE WERE SHEPHERDS LIVING OUT IN THE FIELDS NEARBY, KEEPING WATCH OVER THEIR FLOCKS AT NIGHT.”
We are told that the angel appeared to them……..at night. In their silent night, in the quiet except for a lamb or sheep bleating. And in the quiet their attention was certain. In our quiet JESUS comes for our attention too.
Because HE is the greatest gift ever given……..and to accept this gift freely is on our part. There is nothing we can do to come before HIM, nothing we can give. HE comes for us every Christmas. Let us humble ourselves in the quiet, open our minds and hearts to receive HIS love and HIS touch of peace. It is a peace that goes beyond our understanding, a peace we need and a peace only found somewhere in our silent nights.
ISAIAH 9: 6 “FOR TO US A CHILD IS BORN, TO US A SON IS GIVEN, AND THE GOVERNMENT WILL BE ON HIS SHOULDERS. AND HE WILL BE CALLED WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, PRINCE OF PEACE.”
