SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

My memories as a child bring me back to when my parents and I would drive downtown to look at the beautifully decorated windows in department stores along Michigan Avenue in Chicago.  I was just a kid looking in those windows with all the cute villages and toys displayed so brightly.  Oh how I wanted to live in those windows.  The displays were all moving and never stopping their little stories.

We often expect life to go perfectly and happily ever after……..just like those perfectly decorated windows.

But life is not like that and often our lives are heavy with difficult things.  And sometimes we fill our days with meaningless distractions and ways to dull our pain.   Too often we live in that shop window, doing, doing, doing and so busy we put GOD last on our list.

THE KINGDOM OF JESUS IS HAVING A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM, NOT PUBLIC ACTIVITIES, or WORKS FOR HIM.

So, soak in these great truths of GOD today…….

1 JOHN 2: 21  “I WRITE TO YOU, NOT BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW THE TRUTH, BUT BECAUSE YOU KNOW IT AND BECAUSE NO LIE IS OF THE TRUTH.”

Soak in HIS truth today, not in activities, not in football games, but sit at the FATHER’S feet and listen to HIS wisdom with prayer and thanksgiving.  Spend your time wisely with HIM.  Sundays should be a commitment to HIM, not meaningless activities.  Examine where your desires are and ask HIM to draw you nearer than the world.

Satan’s lie right now is to keep each of us too busy to notice.  The horizontal world pulls us in all directions, with little care for us.  But the eternal world, JESUS’S KINGDOM is a place just for us so time spent in the eternal is never a waste of time!

Today, turn, turn, turn HIS pages full of treasure and wisdom for you.

PSALM 119: 130  “THE UNFOLDING OF YOUR WORDS GIVES LIGHT; IT GIVES UNDERSTANDING TO THE SIMPLE.”

PSALM 119: 136  “THE STATUES YOU HAVE LAID DOWN ARE RIGHTEOUS; THEY ARE FULLY TRUSTWORTHY.”

STOP and be still today, don’t be like that shop window, constantly moving and always doing.

JOB 37: 14  “…….STOP AND CONSIDER GOD’S WONDERS.”

STOP and consider and honor the LORD today with your presence and time.  HE sees you and is calling you near to HIM.

PSALM 46: 10  “BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD.”
