HEAVENSREEF

Our great GOD is a GOD of covenants.  If we think back to Abram, he wondered what GOD could give him since he was childless and wondered about an heir.  And GOD took him outside and said this:

GENESIS 15:  5  “LOOK AT THE SKY AND COUNT THE STARS, IF YOU ARE ABLE TO COUNT THEM.”  THEN HE SAID TO HIM, YOUR OFFSPRING WILL BE THAT NUMEROUS.”  CSB

The NIV version says it this way:

GENESIS 15:  5  “HE TOOK HIM OUTSIDE AND SAID,  “LOOK UP AT THE SKY AND COUNT THE STARS – IF INDEED YOU CAN COUNT THEM.”  THEN HE SAID TO HIM, SO SHALL YOUR OFFSPRING BE.”

You have to wonder, what type of sky did Abram see?  I am sure it was clear, vast and wide.  Was it the type of sky that takes your breath away?  How often do we look heavenward and wonder!

There is something about all those amazing stars that make us feel very small.  Knowing GOD’S hand placed them there just for Abram and just for us is a comfort.  GOD’s promises and HIS covenant with man are never broken. 

We need faith in HIS covenants, belief no matter what comes.  Because GOD is true to HIS word and HE is to be fully trusted…….

GENESIS 15:  6  “ABRAM BELIEVED THE LORD, AND HE CREDITED IT TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

Abram looked up……..and believed.  Let us do the same.  The LORD gives us a sunset and a night sky full of stars every single day.  It cannot be missed, nor should it be taken for granted.  Let’s view it with fresh eyes, being assured of GOD’S promises, because HE is a GOD who creates covenants with HIS creation.  We are blessed that way and oh how it should give us all the hope we need!

Another night sky full of stars with a very special one indeed, led the shepherds to the place where JESUS was born.  What a night full of light and love!  What a great GOD caring for HIS people, caring enough to come down and rescue us from our sins!  What hope we now have in JESUS!

Let us remember this week as we look at the same sky ISRAEL does, that GOD loves HIS people and that HE will deliver on HIS promises.  Pray for ISRAEL, pray for her people.  Keep your hope alive that GOD has all that is going on in the world under HIS sovereign control.   GOD’S plan from the beginning was to make HIMSELF known to all people.  HIS timing is perfect and so is HIS plan!

Remember HIS covenant when you look up…….HE will keep HIS promises and do what is best for all HIS people. 

GENESIS 15:  18  “ON THAT DAY THE LORD MADE A COVENANT WITH ABRAM AND SAID, TO YOUR DESCENDANTS I GIVE THIS LAND, FROM WADI OF EGYPT TO THE GREAT RIVER, THE EUPHRATES…….”
