MEASURE OF FAITH

If you take a peak in the back of your Bible you will see a list of weights and measures.  I haven’t ever paid much attention to them really, but they are there for a reason.  There are Biblical equivalents compared to American and Metric equivalents.

In Romans Paul tells us to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith that GOD has assigned…….

ROMANS 12: 3  “FOR BY THE GRACE GIVEN TO ME I SAY TO EVERYONE AMONG YOU NOT TO THINK MORE HIGHLY THAN HE OUGHT TO THINK, BUT TO THINK WITH SOBER JUDGEMENT, EACH ACCORDING TO THE MEASURE OF FAITH THAT GOD HAS ASSIGNED.”

GOD gives each of us a measure of faith as HE sees fit.  Because we all don’t have the same function in the Body of Christ, we each have the measure HE assigns so that we all bring something to the table with gifts, wisdom and experience.

My ESV study Bible says it this way in the comment section…….

GOD HAS GRANTED A DIFFERING MEASURE OF FAITH IN EACH OF HIS CHILDREN, AND PAUL CALLS UPON EACH TO ASSESS HIMSELF OR HERSELF REALISTICALLY.

Having gifts that differ from one another is a good thing!  That is why we should not compare ourselves to anyone else thinking they were somehow gifted more or less.

When love is genuine we see GOD in each other!  The gifts differ due to HIS grace in us and they are serving, prophecy, teaching, generosity, mercy, and cheerfulness.  If someone has a gift of leadership then let them lead and support them!  If someone has the gift of prophecy, then listen to their words of wisdom.

In the body we see the variety of gifts in each other and what a wonderful tapestry GOD puts together in a body of believers!  Oh let’s be thankful and thank one another more often than we do.  GOD brought us all together for a reason and seeing these gifts on display is HIM on display!

ROMANS 12: 5  “…….so we, though many, are one body in CHRIST, and individually members one of another.”

Today, tell someone you appreciate their gifts from GOD.  Love them and honor them.  Rejoice with them because GOD is working……..it’s all a gift and it’s all HIS grace!

ROMANS 12: 9  “LET LOVE BE GENUINE.”
