Sitting in the chemo room with my husband while he received his first treatment stuns me. There are all ages here, young and old, all receiving their hope in a bag hung close.
NOTHING LIKE A DIAGNOSIS TO HUMBLE YOU……..STUN YOU.
I went through my cancer battle a year ago actually this month……..and now my husband is in a battle too.
As I watch the people around me in this room of hope, I see smiling nurses, comforting their patients and even volunteers asking if you need a blanket or some juice. It’s a whole other world in this room, each one here in their own battle, each one here a decorated soldier. I cannot relate since my cancer did not require chemotherapy…….and so I sit and take it all in.
Each person here has been called by name and is a precious soul in the eyes of our LORD. HE suffered too………HE knows and HE understands.
PSALM 31: 24 “BE STRONG AND LET YOUR HEART TAKE COURAGE, ALL YOU WHO WAIT FOR THE LORD.”
We go through what we go through to grow too. Our journeys help others along on their journey. And here in this chemo room I can relate, only because I have heard the words on the other end of the phone: “you have invasive lobular carcinoma.” I will never forget exactly where I was standing when I heard those words. Cancer is a club no one wants to join!
And I pull my Bible out and come across Deuteronomy 31: 6
“BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS, DO NOT FEAR…….”
GOD keeps reminding me. GOD keeps encouraging me. GOD keeps after me, always speaking to me in ways I never expect.
HE CALLS US TO GO THROUGH WHAT WE GO THROUGH.
And HE knows our names, you and me. I am so thankful HE called me! I am ever grateful I went through what I went through, with cancer, so I can relate and comfort those coming through it after me. I can be a fellow soldier for others in their battles, like my husband.
2 CHRONICLES 20: 15 “…….FOR THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS BUT GOD’S.”
Remember today that what HE calls you to, is the best for you and HE will work it out through you and in you. Don’t give up……persevere because in the end it will all be worth it to see JESUS face smiling right at you, welcoming you to an eternity where there is no heartache or disease.
2 CHRONICLES 20: 21 “GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD, FOR HIS STEADFAST LOVE ENDURES FOREVER.”

Thank you, Maxine, for always explaining the proper — and correct — spiritual perspective on challenges, trials, and suffering. May God bless you and your husband in this new chapter of your lives, and may God do a might work in his life.
