If you want to know whether GOD is the GOD you have faith to believe HIM to be, then you must go to your Jordan……alone.

Oswald Chambers says we all must do this, the struggling of our faith and feeling totally alone, except for GOD.  Sometimes I find when I think I need to talk with a cherished friend that they are unavailable, and GOD says: talk to ME!

When we stand at a crossroad and are wondering: why now?  Where am I going?  What should I do?  Don’t we want someone to confirm our way of thinking?  But GOD! 

THERE ARE TIMES WHERE THERE IS NO ONE THERE FOR US AND NO ONE WHO COULD OR WILL LISTEN.

But GOD!  Oh the faithful ONE who meets us right at our Jordan, sometimes in small ways and other times in a profound way.  But HE will always be found!

JEREMIAH 29: 14  “I WILL BE FOUND BY YOU, DECLARES THE LORD.”

We can stand at the edge of our Jordans, and ask why?  And our GOD answers: I AM HERE!  But HE has to get us alone in the first place, get us to the end of our ropes, get us to the end of ourselves feeling quite alone.  Being ok with this is a hard thing, alone with ourselves and our deepest thoughts and feelings!  Sometimes we would rather stay busy every minute to drown out all that heart and soul stuff.   It’s tough to face your sin in the mirror.  It’s too hard you say……. but GOD says this:

ISAIAH 41: 10  “DO NOT FEAR FOR I AM WITH YOU; DO NOT ANXIOUSLY LOOK ABOUT YOU, FOR I AM YOUR GOD.  I WILL STRENGTHEN YOU…….I WILL ALSO HELP YOU, I WILL ALSO UPHOLD YOU WITH MY RIGHTEOUS RIGHT HAND.”  NASB

The NIV version says it like this:

ISAIAH 41: 10  “SO DO NOT FEAR, FOR I AM WITH YOU; DO NOT BE DISMAYED FOR I AM YOUR GOD.  I WILL STRENGTHEN YOU AND HELP YOU; I WILL UPHOLD YOU WITH MY RIGHTEOUS RIGHT HAND.”

What a powerful promise from the true GOD of the universe.  What a comforting statement from our GOD who loves us and knows when we are alone and never leaves!

THE BEAUTY OF BEING AND FEELING ALONE IS TRULY IN THE ONE WHO IS RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDST OF OUR ALONENESS!

What a wonderful Savior we have, one who understands being alone!  How often is it mentioned in scripture that JESUS went somewhere alone to be with HIS FATHER.  And we should be ok with being alone too, because truly, we never are when the LORD is right there by our side.  Find time today to be alone with HIM, do not fear, for HE is with you when you are alone at your Jordan.

JOHN 10: 40  “THEN JESUS WENT BACK ACROSS THE JORDAN TO THE PLACE WHERE JOHN HAD BEEN BAPTIZING IN THE EARLY DAYS.  THERE HE STAYED……”
