Who doesn’t love the smell of freshly baked bread! It is so very simple, yet it so entices the senses. Anyone will take a piece of freshly baked bread coming from the oven, all warm and soft. There is so much you can do with bread too. Sandwiches, dipping pieces and the list can go on. Is your mouth watering yet?
Bread is mentioned often in the scriptures in a number of different ways…….
DEUTERONOMY 8: 3 “…….SO THAT YOU MIGHT LEARN THAT MAN DOES NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT COMES FROM THE MOUTH OF THE LORD.”
And there is this too…….
MATTHEW 6: 11 “GIVE US TODAY OUR DAILY BREAD.”
Our daily bread is given to us in gifts from the LORD’S faithful hand. And oh how faithful HE is with HIS promises and words to us!
Our daily bread is broken in fellowship with one another……daily when we gather together, we are gathering in HIS name.
Our daily bread from HIS hand stills us, holding time in HIS hands, unhurried……so still and so soft, like freshly baked bread.

When JESUS broke bread with the disciples…….HE gave thanks to the Father. Can you imagine? The GOD of the universe gave thanksgiving in that moment. Let us always remember that giving thanks for the LORD’S sacrifice for us is our daily bread…….
MATTHEW 6: 35 “I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE, JESUS TOLD THEM. NO ONE WHO COMES TO ME WILL EVER BE HUNGRY…….”
Let’s remember together today where and why JESUS came, to save us and redeem us!
MATTHEW 6: 41 “I AM THE BREAD THAT CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN.”
Bread like none other, bread that sustains, strengthens and is life giving. Give thanks to who JESUS is: the bread giver. Give us today LORD, our daily bread from your loving HAND!
JOHN 6: 11 “THEN JESUS TOOK THE LOAVES, AND AFTER GIVING THANKS HE DISTRIBUTED THEM TO THOSE WHO WERE SEATED – SO ALSO WITH THE FISH, AS MUCH AS THEY WANTED.”
May we want more of the bread from HIS hand alone. Let us turn from the world that gives things that tarnish and wear out over time. But of all things that exist, turn to the ONE who wants to give us eternal gifts. We just need to be willing to take them, with thanks and open hands, from HIS powerful HAND. So, next time you break bread, remember JESUS and the breaking of HIS body and life for you, and raise your eyes to Heaven and give HIM thanks for this heavenly, eternal bread of life!
ACTS 2: 42 “THEY DEVOTED THEMSELVES TO THE APOSTLES’ TEACHING, TO THE FELLOWSHIP, TO THE BREAKING OF BREAD, AND TO PRAYER.”

What a warm reminder that Jesus is our Bread of Life.
When I saw your first pictures, my thoughts went immediately to the beautiful loaf of bread that our pastor’s wife gifted us on Sunday. Mmmmm! We love our pastor and his family; and what a picture you brought together of the fellowship in Spirit we share. I am grateful to share that same Spirit with you.
