There is much in the Christian life that requires letting go. And when we let go, we relinquish that particular thing, or person or feeling into GOD’S hands. When we learn to surrender, that is where we find peace within our souls.
GOD is such a big GOD isn’t HE? If we put HIM into a box of our own making thinking HE can’t handle our issues, then we have misunderstood all that HE is!
EXODUS 3: 7 “THEN THE LORD SAID, “I HAVE OBSERVED THE MISERY OF MY PEOPLE IN EGYPT, AND HAVE HEARD THEM CRYING OUT BECAUSE OF THEIR OPPRESSORS. I KNOW ABOUT THEIR SUFFERINGS.”
The cry of GOD’S children is always heard by HIM. And why is that? Notice the above scripture that clearly says: “I HAVE OBSERVED.” Since the LORD knows all and sees all, HE continually observes our response to people and things in our lives, hopefully learning to hold everything with open hands and a humble and surrendered heart. Let us never hold things of this life too tightly!
LETTING GO IS A HEART PROBLEM STUCK IN PRIDE.
PROVERBS 16: 5 “EVERYONE WITH A PROUD HEART IS DETESTABLE TO THE LORD; BE ASSURED, HE WILL NOT GO UNPUNISHED.”
And this is where pride can lead us to:
PROVERBS 16: 18 “PRIDE COMES BEFORE DESTRUCTION AND AN ARROGANT SPIRIT BEFORE A FALL.”
In the letting go, we learn something. We learn that GOD finds a way and often we don’t understand why, to break our will. In desperation we say: LORD, I cannot do this anymore. That statement alone proves we were trying to do everything on our own in the first place and HE takes us to the end of our ropes so we will see that HE is the only answer.

We learn in this process to let go and let GOD. As time goes on, we learn to let go of our youth, our pasts, people we love, friends, family and finally the very end of our life. We even let go of our very souls into HIS loving hands when we pass away.
ALL OF LIFE REQUIRES LETTING GO.
Letting go of people and offenses done against us is a hard thing to do. And JESUS told us we need to forgive over and over. Through the forgiving, we learn about letting go. And when we do, we find the freedom CHRIST so often spoke about.
JOHN 8: 31-32 “JESUS SAID, “IF YOU HOLD TO MY TEACHING, YOU ARE REALLY MY DISCIPLES. THEN YOU WILL KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.”
Since GOD knows us better than we know ourselves, trust HIM in the letting go. HE sees the future and knows HIS plans for you and when HE needs you to let go, HE is keeping you safe or out of a toxic relationship.
Not all of what we have here in our grips or in our lives is a good thing for us. When we let go, HE comes near and comforts us, letting us know HE will take care of all things. And the LORD does move us forward! Remember the scripture I quoted above that says: I HAVE OBSERVED? We should take such comfort in knowing HE sees it all, and wants us to let go of all those bad, evil things that take us in the wrong direction. HE encourages us to keep pressing on forward to the prize that awaits us in Heaven.
CHOOSE TO LET GO TODAY OF WHAT DOES NOT ALIGN WITH SCRIPTURE.
There is power in letting go. We might think it feels weak to let go, but instead we are strengthened by HIS power to let go, to let our hands release what we are holding onto so tightly. There is much wisdom in letting go.
OPEN YOUR HANDS AND LET GOD OPEN YOUR HEART TODAY.
LET GOD’S power work within you to help you let go and feel the freedom the letting go will give you. Do it today, do it before it is too late. Surrender and let go and let your powerful GOD WORK!
ISAIAH 42: 3 “A BRUISED REED HE WILL NOT BREAK, AND A SMOLDERING WICK HE WILL NOT SNUFF OUT. IN FAITHFULNESS HE WILL BRING FORTH JUSTICE.”

Amen! When we let go, our hands are free to take hold of what God wants to give us. 😉
(The song playing in my head this morning was a good soundtrack for this piece – NeedToBreathe’s “More Heart, Less Attack.”)

I’m reminded of “A Mighty Fortress is Our God,” this part:
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill:
God’s truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever!

“There is power in letting go” – SO true! What an excellent post on this topic, as it is so important in our Christian walk. We are to hold tightly to the hope we profess (Heb 10.23), to the eternal life to which God called us (1 Tim 6.12), and to what is good (romans 12.9). But we must, as you point out, let go of things of this world. Well done!
I love your perspective on forgiveness and letting go and freedom in Christ.
