HEAVENSREEF

I believe that the light that GOD puts within us never goes out.  Sometimes our light shines bright for others to see.  But there are times when our light within grows dim.  GOD sees this light in our souls when others don’t.  All of us at one time or another have felt (it’s all feelings really) that our own light is snuffed out.  We feel off, but know we need GOD in a big way.  I have been there and when I am, I just want to shut myself up and say no to being around anyone else.  I have asked the LORD, do YOU see me?  Help me JESUS!

When I feel my light getting dim and I will bet you have noticed this within yourself too, I remind myself first of this Old Testament scripture…….

GENESIS 1: 3-4  “THEN GOD SAID: LET THERE BE LIGHT, AND THERE WAS LIGHT.  GOD SAW THAT THE LIGHT WAS GOOD.”

This good light is around us, under us, upon us, over us and within us……..

GENESIS 1: 16  “AND GOD MADE TWO GREAT LIGHTS; THE GREATER LIGHT TO RULE THE DAY, AND THE LESSER LIGHT TO RULE THE NIGHT; HE MADE THE STARS ALSO.”

The LORD leads each of us with HIS light so we can be light to others.  In my Bible study we were just discussing how sometimes our lights dim, almost to the point of being snuffed out!  Oh how the world has the ability to suck the light right out of us!  Sometimes people do this to us and maybe we don’t even realize why.  There are those toxic people that just want to snuff out your light because you shine too bright for them!  I’ve known a few in my day.

 

But the good news to remember is this:  GOD’S light will and cannot ever be distinguished! 

PSALM 18: 28 “LORD, YOU LIGHT MY LAMP; MY GOD ILLUMINATES MY DARKNESS.”

Remember light is good and GOD is good all the time.  Goodness and light go hand in hand.  So when we feel the light dimming within us, what are we to think?  JESUS reminded us of this:

MATTHEW 5: 14  “YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.”

Yes, you there……YOU are HIS light!  If your light dims, go to JESUS and HE will stoke that fire within your soul.  We need HIM to light this fire within us more than any other time in our history…….ask HIM, pray to HIM for it and glorify HIM for making sure this happens!  JESUS said this too…….

MATTHEW 5: 16  “IN THE SAME WAY, LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE BEFORE OTHERS, SO THAT THEY MAY SEE YOUR GOOD WORKS AND GIVE GLORY TO YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.”

Let’s remember too that we are the CHURCH, HIS CHURCH.  As the Body of Christ we are to be there for one another, to encourage and lift one another up, especially when we need that extra light, because we have grown weary.  We can do this for one another.  I don’t know about you, but I am always so encouraged and lifted after being with my Church family.  Just worshiping JESUS together leaves my light a little brighter.  And being with my small group or Bible study girls, fills me.  They put more oil in my lamp so I can turn it up and shine brighter for all the world to see.

LET’S POUR THE SWEET SMELLING OIL OF JESUS INTO EACH OTHER’S LAMPS!

Someone near you might need that right now.  Their flame of the Spirit is growing dimmer by the day.  Come alongside and ask this simple question: “how are you doing spiritually?” Besides spending time with GOD, we can extend HIS light to one another as the BODY of CHRIST and stoke the flame within each other’s souls.  When someone says they are faltering, give them the light they need for the next step they are on.  There is always enough of GOD’S light to go around……because it is eternal, immeasurable and full of love and grace.

 

Fill up on HIS good good light today, then let your light shine before men and especially for those in the Body of Christ.  When HIS good light shines within, it will illuminate our faces and others will see and give all the glory to GOD!  We need each other more now than we ever have in our lifetimes.  Be HIS bright light today!

PSALM 97: 11  “LIGHT IS SOWN FOR THE RIGHTEOUS, AND JOY FOR THE UPRIGHT IN HEART.”
