SPIRITUAL LIFE – HOLY DEEDS

Charles Spurgeon once said this:  “we daily insist that works do not make a person live, but we equally insist that spiritual life continually manifests itself by Holy deeds.”

If we walk in the path of obedience…….then our “fruit” will be noticed by others.  Yes, it is a daily thing, this fruit that is produced in us and through us.

GALATIANS 5: 22  “BUT THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS, AND SELF-CONTROL.”

Oh, may our way of living now, through this pandemic, win others to JESUS CHRIST!  When we have the fruits of the Spirit within us, then our fruit can be seen and touched by others.

IS YOUR LIFE TODAY A REFLECTION OF THIS HOLY FRUIT?

Holy deeds for others help to show those around you that you are living through these times…….differently.  Is your fruit such that someone would say to you, “why are you so calm” or “why are you not worried”?  Because we are living out our spiritual lives in these times, we are examples and the hands and feet of JESUS!

Don’t let the lockdowns and masks confine you in your deeds for others!  There are so many ways to reach out!

GOD HELPS US CREATE WAYS TO ACCOMPLISH HIS HOLY DEEDS THAT NEED TO BE DONE HERE ON EARTH.

So in reality…..we are not confined at all, but we are free!  The world and the evil one wants to tie your hands.  But GOD in HIS infinite love for us, shows us how to live in a broken world in need of JESUS CHRIST.

When we spend time with the LORD, in HIS Word, HE pours into us all good things, so we can be full vessels going into the world.  Have you let HIM pour into you today?

Let us be refreshed so that we can refresh others.  Because one cannot happen without the other!

PSALM 1: 3 HE IS LIKE A TREE PLANTED BESIDE FLOWING STREAMS THAT BEARS IT’S FRUIT IN IT’S SEASON.”

And there it is…….as hard as these times are……we were born for such a time as this friends!  HIS Holy work still has to continue and HE is calling us each morning to be poured into, so we can go into the world with Holy deeds.  Our fruit is a living breathing daily spirit within us……. one that must be shared.  Otherwise like regular fruit, it turns rotten over time.

PROVERBS 10: 16  “THE LABOR OF THE RIGHTEOUS TENDETH TO LIFE: THE FRUIT OF THE WICKED TO SIN.”

So let us examine ourselves to see if the fruit of our deeds are Holy ones.  In the economy of GOD, HE does bless us with gifts, some are stronger than others, some more developed with maturity.  But figure out how GOD can use you best, then run with it.  None of this of course is our own doing, but the Spirit working in us.  Pray for HIM to show you where you can do these Holy deeds of HIS that need to be done…….every day.  Remember, this life is not about us, it’s about GOD and how we bring glory to HIM!  Do others see HIS glory through you?

We will bloom where HE plants us……trust HIM in this.  We are then in a fit position of HIS grace, and our fit position allows us through our hands and feet to accomplish these Holy Deeds of the LORD!

REMEMBER THE LORD IS GRACE UPON GRACE.

HE will carry us and HE will sustain us and HE will pour into us all we need for each day.  We have all we need and we are equipped.  And these HOLY DEEDS need to be done……. why?  Because HE first loved us and because GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD that HE gave HIS one and only SON!

JOHN 1: 16  “FOR FROM HIS FULLNESS WE HAVE ALL RECEIVED, GRACE UPON GRACE.”

  1. So true, Maxine! God is not bound by anything we set up; and if God is not bound, then neither are we.
Your statement: “So in reality…..we are not confined at all, but we are free!” leads my mind to John 8.36, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
And, as James points out in James 2.14, 17, 18, “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?….Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”
If we allow our faith to become stale, then so is our witness; and then we lose the blessings God gives us when we are obedient to Him. BUT if we are keeping our faith vibrant through His Word and fellowship, then we, as you said, produce much delicious fruit!

    1. I was waiting for someone to point out the “faith without works” scripture. I know that one well and it seems confusing to most people don’t you think? But it seems so simple to me that our passionate faith will result in like you said: delicious fruit!!
