Christmas is coming soon!  In this season of light the vibrant color of red seems to be everywhere.  The Bible uses the word scarlet……a brilliant red color.  I love the color red and even painted one of my kitchen bay windows red in a previous house.  Long ago I discovered to save some money on decorating, that tying red ribbons around lamps just makes them more festive in a room.

Of course we tie red ribbons around beautiful packages this season and with each ribbon I tie, I am reminded of JESUS and HIS blood that HE shed for my sins.  As different as people all are, our blood still runs the same color red in our veins……red blood is red blood.

JESUS settled our sin problem……..yes, HE shed HIS blood for us!

ISAIAH 1: 18  “COME, LET US SETTLE THIS, SAYS THE LORD.  THOUGH YOUR SINS ARE SCARLET, THEY WILL BE AS WHITE AS SNOW, THOUGH THEY ARE CRIMSON RED, THEY WILL BE LIKE WOOL.”

Have we settled our sin problem?  Because the only way to do this is to believe that JESUS died for our sins, a gift on the Cross, a gift of mercy for mankind.

Let’s remember too, that JESUS was born to come save us……..an amazing birth took place long ago in a manger in a dark night that was bathed in light by a brilliant star up above.

LUKE 2: 7  “AND SHE BROUGHT FORTH HER FIRSTBORN SON, AND WRAPPED HIM IN SWADDLING CLOTHS, AND LAID HIM IN A MANGER, BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ROOM FOR THEM IN THE INN.”

 

JESUS was born into our world, to save our world.  And the shedding of HIS blood was very precious…….

ROMANS 5: 9  “MUCH MORE THEN, HAVING NOW BEEN JUSTIFIED BY HIS BLOOD, WE SHALL BE SAVED FROM WRATH THROUGH HIM.”

Jesus was and is the perfect sacrifice…….for you and for me.  Let us rejoice in JESUS through whom we have received redemption.

His blood ran red……..for all of our sins!  His blood……HIS sacrifice.  HIS sacrifice…….our redemption.  HIS coming down to earth……..our awe and worship this Christmas!

We can tie ourselves up in knots like the world does, or we can tie HIS immeasurable love around our hearts!  Because the world has us looking in all the wrong places this Christmas season, when our eyes need to see one thing, and one thing only……..a Manger with a KING!

So remind yourself today…….tie a red ribbon around your wrist.  Look at it and remember HIM.  Tie a red ribbon around your gifts or on your tree, on a lamp or candle or even your coffee mug. 

BUT TIE A RIBBON AND HONOR HIM.

Each time you look…….thank JESUS for HIS sacrifice.  HE was born long ago, in peace, visited and honored by Wise Men from the East, only to be sacrificed as a lamb…….by HIS blood we have redemption for our sins due to the riches of HIS amazing grace.

MATTHEW 26: 28  “FOR THIS IS MY BLOOD OF THE NEW COVENANT, WHICH IS SHED FOR MANY FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS.”
