A RING OF GOLD

It is interesting to me what you may find on the ground walking along some mornings.  You have to be in the right place at the right time I guess.  Recently I found a worn gold ring and it looked as if whatever was attached to it was taken off or torn off.  Maybe a diamond?  All in all, it looked like it was a discarded ring.  I picked it up and wore it home.

As the day progressed I began to wonder about that ring……who wore it?  What kind of life had they lived to discard it? And from there my thoughts turned to what does GOD’S word say in reference to gold.

PSALM 119: 127  “THEREFORE I LOVE YOUR COMMANDMENTS ABOVE GOLD, ABOVE FINE GOLD.”

Oh that HIS words to us are treasured and held securely in our hearts today!  May our desire for HIS promises exceed all else that we hold dear.  Some of us do have gold or silver rings, they mean something to us, they are special and usually kept in a special place, but let’s remind ourselves of the worth of our faith…… 

GOD’S WORD AND HIS ONLY SON ARE A TREASURE THAT IS PRICELESS.

May we understand this truth continually with reverence and awe.  May we never take HIS words and truth for granted……

JAMES 2: 2 – 4  “FOR IF A MAN WEARING A GOLD RING AND FINE CLOTHING COMES INTO YOUR ASSEMBLY, AND A POOR MAN IN SHABBY CLOTHING ALSO COMES IN, AND IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE ONE WHO WEARS THE FINE CLOTHING AND SAY, “YOU SIT HERE IN A GOOD PLACE,” WHILE YOU SAY TO THE POOR MAN, “YOU STAND OVER THERE,” OR, “SIT DOWN AT MY FEET,” HAVE YOU NOT THEN MADE DISTINCTION AMONG YOURSELVES AND BECOME JUDGES WITH EVIL THOUGHTS?”

We must keep gold in it’s rightful place and not put it before anything else……yes it has value, but our fellow human beings have even more value and they are valued in GOD’S sight.

BE CAREFUL IF YOU TREASURE GOLD MORE THAN YOUR FELLOW HUMANS!

GOD cares and loves HIS people, those who love and seek HIM.  HE sees us like a jewel and we are valued too……

ZECHARIAH 9:16 “OH THAT DAY THE LORD THEIR GOD WILL SAVE THEM, AS THE FLOCK OF HIS PEOPLE; FOR LIKE THE JEWELS OF A CROWN THEY SHALL SHINE ON HIS LAND.”

GOD loved the world so much that HE sent HIS ONLY SON to die on a Cross, just for you and for me……..we are valued in HIS sight!

JESUS THOUGHT WE WERE WORTHY ENOUGH TO DIE FOR US.

And how can we not see the precious value in our salvation, in the truth and in HIS love that is more worthy than any gold we may ever have!

Let us be intentional about who we value and keep all earthly treasures in their rightful places whether it be gold or silver.  Because our dear LORD, JESUS should be treasured above all that we have and all that we know.  HE IS PRICELESS!

PSALM 19: 9-10  “…….THE RULES OF THE LORD ARE TRUE, AND RIGHTEOUS ALTOGETHER. MORE TO BE DESIRED THEN GOLD, EVEN MUCH FINE GOLD.”

  1. Sometimes we see, on television or in movies, glorious-looking visions of gold and jewels, treasures beyond imagination.
    What a comfort to know I need no imaginary conjuring to behold and know the precious presence of my Lord and Savior. Whatever we may have in our imaginations, it will be far surpassed by the glorious greatness of God when we get to Heaven!

  6. So true, Maxine. Jesus must have his rightful place in our hearts. We must love God above all else, and he must be our treasure, not the things of this world. And, we must treasure his word in our hearts being lived out through our daily lives for his honor and for his glory. And, this will bring us great joy!

Your thought is outstanding; the difficulty is one thing that not enough persons are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled throughout this in my seek for something regarding this.

    1. Oh so grateful for your response! Thank you, but I give all the glory to GOD for guiding me in what to say and how to say what comes into my head these days. I write to share HIS word and if one person is touched then I have done my job. I am HIS instrument…….it is all HIS doing. Hope you will visit again!
