MOMENTS OF DELIGHT

LIFE IS A SERIES OF MOMENTS.  MOMENTS UPON MOMENTS ADD UP TO A LIFE.  WHAT AND WHO IS YOUR DELIGHT?  DOES YOUR CURRENT LIFE HAVE JOY AND DELIGHT RISING ABOVE YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES?

We experience good moments and bad ones and there are moments that change in a split second.  There are moments that seem to not matter and ones that last a lifetime.  But in all these moments we should always be doing this:

DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD.

Sit with HIM.  See HIS loveliness that HE surrounds us with in HIS amazing beauty…….

Lately I have been savoring those moments……moments in the sun, going outside to watch a sunset, quietly listening to birds singing.  It’s funny how your moments seem to blend and last longer when not on a schedule. 

DELIGHT IN HIS CREATION!

The LORD gives us bird song and puppy dogs, bees and tulips and all the beasts of the earth and sea.  HIS stars are endless and HIS thunder is mighty and powerful. 

True delight and joy can be found in all HE has given us, including HIS daily WORD for us which is our daily bread……

PSALM 1: 2 “…….BUT HIS DELIGHT IS IN THE LAW OF THE LORD, AND ON HIS LAW HE MEDITATES DAY AND NIGHT.

We need HIS daily bread like we need air, yes LORD, give us this day our daily bread and let us find delight in YOUR HOLY writ. When we experience delight in HIS word, we experience a lifting of our souls beyond our circumstances. 

PSALM 119:35  “LEAD ME IN THE PATH OF YOUR COMMANDMENTS FOR I DELIGHT IN IT.”

When we sit under HIS teaching and learn from it there is delight there too.  Why?  Because our souls need the wisdom that only our Creator can give us!  When we embrace HIS word upon our hearts, they become more compassionate, more loving, more forgiving and more joyful.

PSALM 37: 4 “DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD, AND HE WILL GIVE YOU THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART.”

Did you catch that?  Delight yourself in HIM……..who HE is and HIS character, the Sovereign ONE who created us all, who knows us better than we know ourselves.  Delight yourself in HIS guidance of your one life. 

PSALM 139: 9-10  “IF I TAKE THE WINGS OF THE MORNING AND DWELL IN THE UTTERMOST PARTS OF THE SEA, EVEN THERE YOUR HAND SHALL LEAD ME…….

Above all else and all that we know let us forever take delight in the true meaning of the CROSS and in the message of the GOOD NEWS:   CHRIST died for us while we were still sinners! 

Delight yourself in JESUS, HIS life and remember that HE has started a good work in you and will carry it all to completion someday.  Watch and pay attention to how HE is doing this within you, notice those moments HE is near with HIS loving arms…….embrace those moments, but most of all take delight in the GOD of the universe who loves you more than you will ever know. His love for us is immeasurable, HIS forgiveness is endless and HE delights in us too right now and forevermore.

ROMANS 7: 22 “FOR I DELIGHT IN THE LAW OF GOD, IN MY INNER BEING.”

  2. PSALM 37: 4 “DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD, AND HE WILL GIVE YOU THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART.”
    I love this verse, although it seems it is often misunderstood. It doesn’t say if we butter up God, He’ll give us WHAT we desire, but if we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us the DESIRES – He will instill in us the desires He wants tot fulfill in us. (Besides, if we delight in Him, HE will be our desire. 😉 ❤ )

  3. Such a delightful post! I know that when I am right with God, then I am right with myself and those around me.
    I delight in watching the birds outside our window. My husband put up extra bird feeders this year, and we both enjoy watching the antics. I delight in my husband, in the quiet times when we are simply together and the times we talk. God give us so much. I am so grateful.

    1. Yes Kathy, finding that delight also makes you so grateful for all GOD has given you. So loved hearing about your bird feeders. We don’t have a good tree in the back yard that will allow those feeders. We have palm trees instead!

    1. Tangie, I am thankful and honored that you thought of me to nominate. I want to make sure however that I “thank” the right person who originated the award, besides you too? These awards are tricky and in the past I had where someone was upset about not being thanked!! I have not done any since then. Help?
