*Optional: ask you nominees 2-5 questions and/or answer any questions the person who nominated you asked you.
*Optional: copy and paste the Purpose of the Be Thou My Vision Tag from below into your post.
The Purpose of the Be Thou My Vision Tag:
The primary purpose of this tag is to edify, build up, and point to Christ. Many tags are filled with random questions like: “What is your favorite ice cream flavor and while they are often quite fun, they can miss out on the big questions. This tag is meant to build us up in Christ and help us look to the High Ruler of all, our inheritance and our vision. It seems to be quite a big struggle in this age and time to lose sight of our purpose particularly when we are trying to build a platform. Often what started out for GOD, becomes something we are doing for us. Perhaps this tag will help us all to look to our LORD and pray that HE would truly be our vision. That is what I pray for you. May GOD bless you and may you find that HE truly is everything you will ever need.
The Main Questions:
1. What is your vision for your life, your blog, etc?
2. What do you think of when you think of your “inheritance”?
3. What is your first response when something is beyond you?
4. What is generally your very first thought about, when you wake up?
5. (OPTIONAL) What do you think of when you hear the phrase “dwelling in Christ.?”
6. (OPTIONAL) What is something you have been dwelling on or thinking about more than you ought to? In other words, what is something that has been possibly getting in the way of GOD in your mind?
Here are the lyrics to Be Thou My Vision……..
Be Thou My Vision:
Be Thou my Vision, O LORD of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping. Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, LORD;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heavens Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
This hymn is loved by Farmgirl and she believes it really should be our anthem as Christians.
NOW TO CONTINUE WITH THE TAG…….
My Answers to the Questions:
*What is your vision for your life, your blog, etc.?
My vision would be and is, to be an example for others for CHRIST in my words and actions. I love to help and encourage others with my words as much as possible. As Psalm 19:14 says: “Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in YOUR sight O LORD, my ROCK and my REDEEMER”. But oh how I fail on the meditations of the heart when I think unkindly of someone or judge someone without knowing their full story. GOD is working on me with this and to be patient most of all with others and not so darn quick to judge. HE says: “give it some time”, but most of all “give them grace too”.
As far as my blog goes, well I know through my journey in this small space that it truly is HIS place…….I write only for ONE and am so happy that even if one single soul reads and is uplifted, then I have done what I am meant to do for JESUS, bringing all glory to HIM. I have had many say I should advertise on my site……never will I do this. Why? Because my blog is not about me……it’s about GOD and pointing others to the Savior of the Universe! I never started this blog to make money…….I just wanted to write for the LORD and oh how HE has taught me much! The Christian blogging community is so helpful and gracious…….you know who you are!
*What do you think of when you think of your “inheritance”?
Most people think of the earthly inheritance and if you think about it people actually fight over what their loved ones leave them. How wonderful that with GOD, we never have to do this fighting because we have been granted our salvation through CHRIST, it is a gift and not something we work for. We are saved by grace: EPHESIANS 3:18 “FOR IF THE INHERITANCE COMES BY THE LAW, IT NO LONGER COMES BY PROMISE; BUT GOD GAVE IT TO ABRAHAM BY A PROMISE.” So we need to trust HIS promises. And we need to believe in our inheritance! I can’t wait to see what heaven will be, but mostly I can’t wait to see my JESUS, my SAVIOR!
*What is your first response when something is beyond you?
With the everyday frustrations of life, generally I always think: “ok LORD what would you have me learn from this?” I do realize that HE allows those things because HE is refining me……making me and molding me into the person HE wants me to be. When the big stuff comes……the scary stuff, the heart-stopping stuff? I usually fall to my knees and pray, pray, pray and get up and continue to pray and I always seem to somehow find that peace in my heart that goes beyond all understanding.
*What is generally your very first thought about, when you wake up?
Long ago I would have a list of what I needed to do and my first thoughts would go there. But now my very first thought is: “I can’t wait to go and get my coffee and Bible!!” And usually after I think: “thank you LORD, for waking me up today.” Because life is so fragile, you realize over time that on that very day there was someone who didn’t wake up!! I find the WORD is so powerful, so convicting and so comforting that I cannot live a day without it!
* Optional Question: Since there are two questions I will answer one.
What do you think of when you hear the phrase: “dwelling in Christ”?
Dwelling to me means to: abide. Abide was a word choice of mine many years ago and we need to abide and dwell in CHRIST. The best verse on this for me is JOHN 15: 1-2 & 4
I AM THE TRUE VINE, AND MY FATHER IS THE VINEDRESSER. EVERY BRANCH IN ME THAT DOES NOT BEAR FRUIT HE TAKES AWAY, AND EVERY BRANCH THAT DOES BEAR FRUIT HE PRUNES THAT IT MAY BEAR MORE FRUIT.
ABIDE IN ME, AND I IN YOU. AS THE BRANCH CANNOT BEAR FRUIT BY ITSELF, UNLESS IT ABIDES IN THE VINE, NEITHER CAN YOU, UNLESS YOU ABIDE IN ME.
If we abide daily in HIM, HE abides with us…….draw near to HIM and HE will draw near to you. Keep reaching for HIM, keep thinking in HIM because HE is never more than an arms length away…..so reach!!
My blog world is not as big as some bloggers so I will nominate 2 people:
Kathy at: http://maggietiggles.wordpress.com
Alethea (not her wonderful full name!) at: http://aletheasmind.wordpress.com
There is no pressure to answer my two friends……just know you are warmly thought of and I do adore (my word choice this year) both of your blogs!
Hope this encourages all who read…….do not give in, put on that armor of GOD for the enemy wants you to take your mind off of CHRIST! Blessings my friends!

Oh, lovely, Maxine! I’m with you on the ‘blog to glorify my Lord’ theme.

I love the introductory line for this tag and how it’s trying to get us to refocus on our vision especially when we’ve lost track. That’s exactly what God called me to do at the beginning of the year when he asked that Alethea’s Mind be award-free. I’m grateful that there are people out there that have the passion to spur others to good works. God bless you, Maxine, and keep shining for Jesus.

Good for you friend!! And I understand about the award free! A while ago I decided that I wouldn’t sell anything on the blog…….nor would I keep a counter to show the hits or followers either. In GOD’S eyes none of those things are important. HE wants us to love HIM with all heart, mind and soul and to also glorify HIM in all we do!! Thanks so much for your wonderful kind words……they mean so much to me. Bless you too sweet one who does shine for JESUS!!
